Ants

All things ant related is what this group is about.

I want to photograph many different kinds in many different places and situations.

It seems like an odd group to have, but they're great to practice macro shooting with, and besides, there's an endless supply of them everywhere you go.

A few examples of my own shots are pictured below:

Hi all,

I love this group, but I thought it would be a good idea to start a group dedicated to people that keep ants.
You might also want to show off your formicarium.

Its now just me, but I hope a lot of people will join me and share this passion.

Ants have been living on the Earth for more than 100 million years and can be found almost anywhere on the planet. It is estimated that there are about 20,000 different species of ants. For this reason ants have been called Earth’s most successful species.

Antworks is a terrible environment for a colony to live in, take out the gel as fast as you can and fill it with sand, this way you can keep the colony for years.

A True (But Funny) Ant Story

Studies in Solitude posted a new topic:

At a psychiatrc hospital where I once worked, we had a patient admitted for alcohol dependency. He got up one night complaining that he could not sleep because of ants in his bed. The nurse, who was accustomed to dealing with psychotic patients, reassured him that the ants were merely an hallucination caused by his alcohol withdrawl.
After an education on the effects of withdrawl and a dose of Zyprexa, the patient accepted her explanation and returned to bed.
It wasn't until the next morning that staff discovered that an actual nest of ants had found their way into the patients room through a crack in the wall behind the bed. That poor man had lain their all night, swarming with ants, thinking all the while that he was hallucinating.
