after spending some time culling out the obvious junk (where do these people get off posting some of these photos to a caption group?) i think a queue should be implemented. the photos will later be added by moderators who think that the photo is captionable.

things haven't changed much in the intervening time.

i suggest that the moderators get aggressive and cull about 60% of the photos out. you know exactly what i mean - stupid setup pet photos and stuff that has no business being here.

This photo is one I would (personally) consider as a potentially captionable for three reasons:
1. In contains a wordless narrative with direct action/interaction between subjects.
2. There's clearly something happening in the shot (as opposed to say a dead tree branch).
3. It contains universal themes with which anyone could relate (in this case, people dining together).

This is of course not the best example of a captionable photo, but its workable-that's the point I'm trying to make. There are far better examples that could conjure all kinds of captioning ideas. Let me know what you guys think. Am I right? Am I way off base?

I included an example caption of my own. I'm sure others could come up with even funnier ones.

"Fill my plate, too, while you're at it princess" was not the right thing for Chuck to say to Black Eye Betty the Roller Derby Queeen.

Same here. Most of the photos leave me high and dry on ideas. Another problem I have is photos that are too poignant or serious to be caricatured with a funny caption.
I'm giving myself a goal today to go out and take a truly funny, captionable shot and then post it for all of your reviews on it's captionability/funnieness. And, I'm gonna smile when I do it!

I keep checking in from time to time and found the same as TheNHBushman...most photos don't warrant a funny caption.

I give up on trying to screen everything. Nobody even reads the rules any more and just use this as a dumping ground.
