if any cyclists in liverpool are intrested in having a good time come join us on our monthly bike ride around the city centre. we meet at the chinese arch at 6.00pm. it doesnt matter if your a racer or just ride for fun, we dont discriminate :)

every second friday of the month, rain or shine!

I'd just highlight that I've been a Sustrans Ranger and Supporter for the best part of ten years so I think I do my bit. Having said that, I think it's unfortunate that an organisation like Sustrans has to exist at all. That fact that it does is an indictment of the criminal folly of British highways designers and the politicians that control them. Other countries on mainland Europe have no need of such an organisation. Why? Because the bicycle has been long recognised as a vital and useful transport tool. In Backward Britain it's derided as a toy and a sporting device.
Very sad state of affairs.

Over the last 11 years I have rode a lot routes and the NCN route 7 in Dumfries & Galloway which is just over two hours away from my home in Northern Ireland by ferry . The area around gatehouse of Fleet is very nice and mostly traffic free and is a must do for a cycle tour. This area is the forgotten Scotland and a cyclist's paradise.

If anyone makes films or fancies doing an Anton Corbijn & entering the world of moving images then Sustrans has a competition, www.myncn.org.uk/ It's basically asking for short films celebrating the 15 years of the NCN- prizes to be had.

While I agree entirely that folks rattling cans at me when I'm trying to shop (which is more than enough to make me crabbit on it's own!) is a pain in the backside, the big difference with the "Sustrans Chuggers" is that your actually using the service they are trying to raise money / awareness for....
If you were cut off by the tide and the RNLI came to your aid, would you not feel inclined to put a little cash in their collecting tins next time you saw one?

More power to their elbow. I was politely asked at Bitton Station and as I felt it immoral to benefit without contributing I signed up. No complaints about Sustrans whatsoever.
