Neon Museum photo tour next week!

Ever wanted to wander around the Neon Museum and take photos at your leisure without the big photo shoot location fee? Well now is your chance! The Neon Museum is offering a photo tour on May 29 from 6 to 7 p.m. Unlike regular tours, where you have to stay with the group and you can’t bring additional equipment, photo tours allow people to come take photos in the museum at their leisure for personal use with equipment of their choosing. Ticket prices are $75 to participate and only $60 for residents, students and seniors (current ID required), sorry, no assistants or models are allowed. These tours are capped at 12 people and sell out quickly, so let me know if you are interested! Please email estellmon@neonmuseum.org today to sign up.

Homeland Security Memo

So, I was booted off the property over at Jerry's Nugget for photographing their sign. The Security Chief cited a memo from Homeland Security that labels photographers as potential threats.

I googled the memo, it's real. Still, this is the first time I've heard of it.

The Security guy said they couldn't do anything about it if I took photos from the public sidewalk, so that's what I did.

Just a heads up for anyone who tries to shoot there.

So. I've had my T3i (my first DSLR) for about two months now. I'm looking at the Tamron 18-270. I currently have the kit lenses that came with the camera which are the Canon 18-55 and the 55-250. My thoughts are this. The Tamron is not a kit lens so the picture quality should be (at least slightly) better. I would have one lense that would cover the 18-250 range plus another 20mm. No lens changes and possiby sharper images. Any thoughts or advise would be greatly appreciated.

Can you spare a minute to vote for my photo?

You can just to to their Facebook page: www.facebook.com/thesmithcenter and click the 'Photo Contest' button.
From there you can cast your vote by clicking the 'Vote Up' button.

I did a quick and easy tutorial on how to transfer your photos to a piece of wood. Each print is unique and has a vintage type look to it. What I like most about it, is that you can make large prints cheap.
