Hamster ball is what we give ours. We also have a kiddie pool from our local chain of toy stores. They need to be deep enough and you need to keep an eye on them in the pool. You can vary the toys in them, but cardboard tubes and boxes are favorites. The pools are best bought in the spring when they are abundant and cheap.

Please advise on how to make a pen or run for my hamsters !
Cardboard is great but they chew through or they run around eating my carpet or cables etc
Thank-you

so this is the 2nd time my hamster Lulu has gotten these mites. they are suchhh a pain in the butt and the remedy does work (and makes her fur really fuzzy again) my hamster is white and when these mites are babies they are tiny and not noticeable, but she does start getting scabby and thats how i know. Im pretty sure they come from the bedding thats like wood chips. i gave it a second chance after i examined the bag and didnt see any bugs but thats the only thing ive changed...did your hamster have pine bedding?

The easiest way to monitor eating issues is to buy a kitchen digital scale. They are small, not all of them are expensive. Do you know how to check his mouth to see that his front teeth aren't to long and that they meet properly? Also check to see what his first home feed him and get some of that. If you want to change to something else, starting serving him mostly the former kind of food with a small amount of the food you choose for him. Gradually increase the proportion of the new food until he accepts it as his food.

Many of our hamsters have taken rest breaks in the middle of play time for around 10 minutes. They lie down and may even nap briefly. You can get some really cute pictures.

If you really feel uncertain of his health, take him to the vet.

some hamsters are 'secret eaters'-eat in privacy, maybe you could try different types of food, also something fresh like vegetable and fruits. is he active during night?

Ok so, I just got my hamster about a week ago. I walked in on him running on his wheel, and he stopped and came up to me to hold him and stuff. When I put him back he just layed on the wheel and didn't move. :( Also I'm not even sure if he's eating. I know he eats some treats that I give him, but I never see him eating, and his bowl always looks the same. But I know that he does drink out of his water bottle. Thank you! any help is greatly appreciated <3
