My extras: sun cream - I got burned at RIAT one year on a CLOUDY day; comfy shoes (I prefer walking boots) - you can walk miles up & down static lines; a hat - to complement the sun cream; lightweight rain jacket -esp in the UK! Big plastic bag to put your camera bag into if not waterproof.

Still a long way off, 14th September 2013 but this seems to be a well worth event. The Seafire and Avenger alone are worth the trip :-)

Just got confirmation that spotting around Volkel AFB from the 9th to the 13th (basicly fly-in and practice days) is prohibited.

Meaning, all spotter places will be closed during this time. However... it is possible to spot from the biking paths around the base. Parking your car there is forbidden.

Roads and bikepaths will be marked.

Police will be patrolling the area around the base. If you do feel the need to spot you will have to take a bike. Also I would strongly suggest having your ID card handy.

Fun fact, you can rent a bike locally in the Village of Volkel for just a couple of Euros :-) You will also receive a map so you can bike around the base :-)

Spotters please note that the rumour is going around that from the 9th or the 10th of June Both Spotter Areas will be closed off till after the Airshow.
