I see you've already uploaded some 14,000 of your 30,000 collection, but you should check out Flickr's "The Commons" project:

"The key goals of The Commons on Flickr are to firstly show you hidden treasures in the world's public photography archives, and secondly to show how your input and knowledge can help make these collections even richer."

The Iredell County Public Library in Statesville, N.C. has a large photograph collection that we are currently in the process of scanning for preservation purposes while placing the photos and negatives in archival grade envelopes and sleeves. We would like to begin placing these online through Flickr. We have purchased a Flickr Pro account and would like to know if any other libraries have experience in placing such a large collection online.

We’d like to invite you or your organization to participate in our 2012 TechSoup Digital Storytelling Challenge. We’re in the midst of an exciting challenge with learning opportunities and a chance to submit your one-minute video or five-photo slideshow to win excellent award donations from our partners.

This challenge is open to all social benefit organizations regardless of 501(c)(3) status or location (yes, libraries too), and your finished product is yours to keep and use.

We know your organization values strategic storytelling as a means to project your mission - please consider submitting your own unique story to our storytelling challenge.

How to get involved this year

• Submit a one-minute video or five-photo slideshow to win prizes! (Deadline: February 29 at 11:59 pm Pacific Standard Time.)
