Worldwide Pride 2007 on Yahoo!

Visit the Yahoo! LGBT Pride site at: http://events.yahoo.com/pride

This promotion is now closed. Thanks, everyone for helping us to donate $10,472 to the Point Foundation!

For every photo contributed to this pool during the time of this promotion, Yahoo! donated $1 to the Point Foundation.

About Point Foundation
Point Foundation is the nation’s largest publicly-supported organization granting scholarships to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) students of merit. Point provides financial support, leadership training, mentoring and hope to LGBT individuals who are marginalized because of their sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.

Applicants to Point Foundation and subsequent scholars, turn to Point Foundation because their families are either unable or unwilling to support them and their goals for higher education. Each student has a compelling and inspiring story of overcoming incredible obstacles and hardships. Many have been cruelly rejected by their families, forced to leave home, and cut off from all financial support. Yet Point Scholars are excelling at our nation's most prestigious and demanding universities and colleges, while also leading in a variety of extracurricular and community service activities.

Learn about Point Foundation at http://www.pointfoundation.org

Please note: photos submitted to this pool may be displayed on the Yahoo! LGBT Pride site and at Yahoo!-sponsored Pride events.

SML AIDS = non-profit HIV/AIDS information portal

See-ming Lee 李思明 SML posted a new topic:

I created a site called SML AIDS (http://smlAIDS.org) last Sunday using Google Apps to feed news and resources that I found related to HIV/AIDS on the Internet, in hopes to bring awareness to the significance of the issue, and provide as a source for news, research, studies for those who are concerned with this disease.

Earlier this year, through my various studies on network theory, I discovered many discoveries relating to AIDS and HIV that may not be immediately apparent.

Although I am negative, many of my friends are positive. While I am technically savvy and have the know-how to fetch information easily, many of my friends may not be. And I wish to do the do the best I can to give back to the community who has always been there to provide me with support when I needed them most.

I hope that you will find these resources to be helpful.

If you have any suggestion and feedback, please do not hesitate to contact me at seeminglee+smlaids@gmail.com.

I had wanted a tattoo for so long but with a low pain tolerance and fear I had always put it off. My partner had already converted me on the beauty of piercing so this was the next step.
I had seen the medieval astrological sign of Sagittarius. Its design is one that has also been used to represent a mixture of sexual characteristics and being a transsexual woman and a Sagittarian it was so meaningful. So I decided this would be the first tattoo I would get, it had such special meaning to me. I wanted it just above my ankle and about three inches. I also wanted it filled with the pride colors as I identify as a TransLesbian.
It surprised me that it did not take long to complete. When Steve finished I sat there as tears filled my eyes, it was beautiful.
When we got home I rested for a while and later took a shower. After as I lay with Cami I looked at my leg and a feeling came over me; I had made a change to my body that would last forever. Over three years ago I found acceptance of myself and who I had always been yet hid in fear and shame. I overcame that fear and started living and I have never been happier. I had by my tattoo made a commitment to be real and never to be something I am not in order to please others. It was a foreshadowing of my most important step to come, sexual reassignment surgery that will at long last give me a body I will truly be comfortable in.

Well, we're calling it a day. In what I think may be the largest "add a photo" charity promotion in Flickr's history, we hit 5-digits and we're incredibly pleased to announce that Yahoo! will donate $10,472 to the Point Foundation. This donation will help promising LGBT scholars fund their college education.

We couldn't have done it without the help of thousands of people, in a truly international effort, who helped us reach this number. And, we had a lot of fun along the way! The variety of photos capturing LGBT Pride around the world are pretty spectacular.

Thanks so much for participating in this celebration of LGBT Pride!

Yay! No limit! I snapped over 500 pictures of our Pride Parade here in Vancouver last weekend. I'm glad I found something meaningful to use my pictures for!

But... is there anyway to batch upload to the group???
