The Celebrate African Children Project
International Photography Competition
Theme: A Celebration of African Children

Information in a nutshell:
- This international photography competition is FREE to enter.
- The aim is to have children represented from every African country.
- The winning images will be published in a ‘coffee table’ style book.
- Images of children taken in Africa should be emailed to the organiser (email address: africanchildrenphotocomp@gmail.com) Please email images with a file size limit of 1MB, with your name and details of where the photo was taken ie Jinja, Uganda. If you are submitting multiple entries please group images together that were taken in the same country to make processing the images easier.
- By emailing a photo to enter into the competition you are agreeing to the terms and conditions of the competition (see below for details).
- The winner of the photography competition will win $1,000US and their image will be published on the cover of this photographic book.
- If your image is chosen (by a panel of judges) to be published in this book; your name and details of where the image will be printed with the photograph. You will also have a promotional feature about yourself and your photography (photography website etc) in the credit section of the book; free of charge. * If your image is chosen by the panel of judges to be in the book or is the winning photo. I will contact you via email and may request you to email you the image again in a higher resolution and will request further information about your promotional feature which will be published in the book.
- A percentage of the profits will go to reputable charitable organisation based in Africa.
- This competition opens on the 10th June and closes on the 10th August, 2012.

Terms and Conditions
1. The Celebrate African Children Project is an international photography competition and is open to all amateur and professional photographers.
2. Entry is free of charge.
3. The winner of this photograph competition will receive a one off payment of $1000US.
4. Only digital images in JPEG file format will be accepted.
5. Submitted photos may be colour or black and white.
6. Each photographer may submit up to 20 entries per African country.
7. The original image should be of a high resolution.
8. All entries must have been shot within Africa in the last 10 years.
9. By virtue of entering an image the entrant certifies the work as his or her own.
10. By emailing a photo to enter into this competition you are agreeing to the terms and conditions of the competition
11. Entrants retain ownership of their images and all other rights to future use of these.
12. Royalties will not be paid for any commercial use of images.
13. The organiser reserves the right to use selected entries on websites, in exhibitions related to promoting the book. In the event of such usage, no remuneration will be offered.
14. The competition begins on 10th June and closes on 10th August, 2012.
15. Please note that the decision of the contest judges is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

As you might already know I am involved with an NGO, Focal Point
Aid. Recently American Express posted our Coffee Bay, South Africa school proposal on
their Members Project website. This means if we receive enough nominations on our project we
could then be eligible for funding, as much as 2.5 million dollars. The nominating is where
you come in to play.

Wanted to let others know about Focal Point Aid We are a small NGO currently working in Coffee Bay, South Africa and Perquin, El Salvador. We are trying to build classrooms for educational systems in crisis.

In Coffee bay, South Africa children are taught in fields without fresh drinking water and bathroom facilities as seen above. This school shown is one of the sites for our projected school building.

In Perquin, El Salvador we are assisting with the growth of Amun Shea a private school trying to raise the educational standards of the region. Shown below is the first enrollment of this school.

Think video is a great addition to flickr. Will attrack more people that before wouldn't have given flickr a second thought. It's a tool I can use to improve the overall experience users have when visiting my stream. Now I just need to get myself a videocam :)

If you don't want your photos mixed up with videos, why don't you just abstain from uploading videos to your stream? It's not an obligation...
