		<title>Olympic Torch relay - Isle of Lewis</title>

 		<description>&lt;b&gt;The Olympic Torch relay came to the Isle of Lewis (Western Isles) on 11th June 2012, Day 24 of the UK route.&lt;/b&gt;

Some highlights of the day:

At 4.20am &lt;b&gt;Kirsty Wade&lt;/b&gt;, 49, from the Isle of Lewis, will carry the Flame to the Callanish Stones for sunrise. There will be a lone piper at the stones wearing a specially commissioned gold and white Harris Tweed. Kirsty is a Commonwealth Triple Gold Medallist and competed in the 1988 Seoul Olympics and the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. She has since turned her talent to the community, working in the remote town of Stornoway to inspire hundreds of people to build and retain their fitness.  

At 6.32am the first Torchbearer of the day will be &lt;b&gt;Eilidh Mackenzie&lt;/b&gt;, 23, from Stornoway, who will start with the Flame at the front of the Western Isles Council. Eilidth was nominated for being the most successful track and field athlete produced by the Western Isles. She is currently aiming to represent Scotland in the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

6.33am : &lt;b&gt;Kayleighanne O'carroll&lt;/b&gt;, 15, who lives on the island of Barra. Nicknamed 'Smiler' by the locals, she is always getting involved with sport or raising money for charity.

6:35am : &lt;b&gt;Kirsty Wade&lt;/b&gt; for the second time.

At 6.37am &lt;b&gt;Elizabeth Macleod&lt;/b&gt;, 37, from Linlithgow, will carry the Flame into the Town Square. Elizabeth was nominated following her successful rugby career where she represented Scotland 68 times and played in three World Cups.

6:39am : As Elizabeth Macleod passes Percival Square a band of pipers are playing.

6:40am : A young man running backwards while video recording falls over a road cone which makes Kara Hanlon laugh. He stays on the ground checking his device then, unharmed, gets up and races forward again to pass the torchbearer.

6:45am : Western Isles swimmer &lt;b&gt;Kara Hanlon&lt;/b&gt; completes a double stint, during which a group of supporters tried to keep up with her by running on the pavement. 

6:46am : &lt;b&gt;Donald Campbell&lt;/b&gt; was next. He has been volunteering with Third Sector Hebrides for 15 years, specifically helping people with disabilities and the eldery. A former member of the Stornoway Running Club, he has run eight marathons for charity and at the age of 70 is in training to run another marathon.

At 7am &lt;b&gt;Norman Mackenzie&lt;/b&gt;, 32, from Sandwick, will carry the Flame into the Community Festival at Lews Castle College. Norman was selected through the Samsung campaign for his success as two times Scottish and British Muay Thai boxing champion and his work in setting up Muay Thai boxing club in Stornoway.

At 7.05am &lt;b&gt;John Mitchell&lt;/b&gt;, 31, from Stornoway, will carry the Flame on a quad bike. John, who is three times Quad Motor Cross Champion, was selected through the Coca Cola campaign.

7:06am : &lt;b&gt;Gemma Steele&lt;/b&gt;, 21. She left her small community and island life on South Uist in the Western Isles when she was 17 to spend six months volunteering in a Kenyan orphanage and teaching in a school for the slum children of Nakuru. While there, she helped begin building an orphanage to house 100 orphans. Since her return she has continued to raise funds to complete the orphanage by running half marathons and completing the three peaks challenge.

7:10am : &lt;b&gt;Janet McNaughton&lt;/b&gt;, 52, takes the flame for a double stint. She has spearheaded the evolution of the Stornoway Amateur Swimming Club over the last 12 years, increasing its membership to more than 50 childen.

7:15am : &lt;b&gt;Jenny MacTaggart&lt;/b&gt;, 15. She has a passion for sport, especially football, rugby and athletics, and has excelled at sprinting and long jump, competing at regional and national level, as well as within the Western Isles.

7:20am : &lt;b&gt;Kathryn Offer&lt;/b&gt;, a swimmer and rower, takes the flame and runs past two hand-painted signs about London 2012.

At 7.31am &lt;b&gt;Calum &amp;quot;Chancy&amp;quot; Macleod&lt;/b&gt;, 48, and &lt;b&gt;Keith Bray&lt;/b&gt;, 40, from Stornoway, will both carry the Flame at the Community Celebration at Lewis Athletics Track. They were both selected through the Bank of Scotland campaign. Calum has diabetes and he was devastated when his daughter was also diagnosed with it too. Both he and Keith decided to run the London Marathon to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and managed to raise £22,000.    

7:33am : &lt;b&gt;Roma Macleod&lt;/b&gt;, 19, who works at Hebridean Chocolates - a community owned firm that provides training for young people with special needs. 

7:34am : Hundreds gather at the athletics track to hear the pipes, singers and watch the cauldron be lit by &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.flickr.com/photos/gameslegacyscotland/7176118265/in/photostream/&quot;&gt;Keith Bray&lt;/a&gt;.

At 8.44am the Flame will depart from Stornoway Airport and head to Inverness.
Inverness to Aberdeen
