It’s that time again! Time for Travel Handmade! We’re excited to bring you even more handmade goodness this year! Whether you’re traveling from around the world or from just around the block, it’s always nice to have a little something handmade to make the journey. Even if you can’t make it to Sewing Summit, I bet you could still use a new bag! :)

This year, Travel Handmade is going to be spread out over the entire month of September! It will feature many of last year’s topics along with lots of new ones!

We’re going to kick off Travel Handmade this week here on the Sewing Summit blog by rounding up our favorite tips and tricks for using interfacing, zippers, bag hardware, and general bag making! Some of these things seem scary at first, but by the end of the week you’ll be more than able to tackle those bag and travel projects!

Don’t enjoy making bags, or don’t have the time? Never fear, we’ve got some fun projects for you too! To make things easier for you (and us!), we’ll be curating tutorials and patterns for you on the new Travel Handmade Pinterest board!

Hi! I'm Angie and I'm from Winston-Salem, NC. I'm going to Summit (**squeal**) and can't wait. What I'm really hoping to make soon, though, is a tote/book bag for grad school. If I have to lug around boring books about statistics, I figure my bag should at least look good, right? ;o)

I am Tracey from Fort Worth, TX. I will be making a few items to bring for travel for the summit. I have already made wash and wear bags for my unmentionables and a neck pillow to sleep on the plane, as I am sure there isn't a lot of sleep occuring at the Summit!!

I am so excited to be making some bags. The bags shown are beautiful! I am looking forward to making most of the larger bags. Especially the travel purse. We are going on a roadtrip next month, so this summit is just perfect!

Hi, I'm Wendy from Las Vegas :) I'm not sure if I can make it to the summit yet or not (I have 2 yr old twins at home), but I definitely want to make a bag of some sort. I'm thinking maybe a weekender bag, or maybe a big-ish kind of market tote w/pockets for carrying random goodies & completed projects.
Of course, I don't really "need" any bags, but I am addicted to making them LOL & I can't wait to see what ideas come up :) This group sounds like fun!

~ Not that you'll have time while you're here, but Vegas has 3 fantastic independent quilt shops locally, not counting the JoAnns' ;)

Ok, I'd really love to try my hand at a larger structured bag... but I don't think I have the time or the patience (let alone the money for supplies) to do that now. So probably some little totes or something. Who knows. :) I'll wait and see what wow's me! :)
