Yes... totally agree with this. Some photos have just been added because the group has the word 'street' in it. Those same photos have been dumped in up to 50 'street' groups.

Needs a proper clean out.

Is this group still busy and active? I have only just discovered it. I have been a member of several street photography groups, but I like the feel of this one as it seems to be a little more personal.

I like the idea of close up street photography, even though I still get nervous trying to get those shots. The reward always outweighs the fear though.

I use a Ricoh GRD3 (28mm fixed lens equivalent). I am forced to get close to people. Sometimes, I step back and capture people against interesting backgrounds. I like to use an architectural wall as a canvas for my subjects.

I tend to process into monochrome, but not always. I love viewing other people's work and getting new ideas and directions.

I write a blog for all my images... it's a way of adding meaning to my hobby.

Maybe more moderating of what is considered a "courageous" shot? Quite a few photos seem to be taken from a vast distance, behind glass, backshots, thus losing the groups purpose or messing round with the definition of "courageous".

Hello Javier, hello all !

Thank you Javier for invite and apologies for delaying my introduction.
English is my second language and i am very reluctant to put more then few sentences together. But i think i owe this forum and Javier...so here i am...more than few.

My name is Jack ( Jacek ) Olszewski. I was born in Poland. Living in Canada since 1990. Before that i was an emigrant for two years in Greece which will always have a soft spot in my heart.

I had interest in photography since a little boy ( Smiena, Zenit )but only recently found out how much fun it can be.To the point that shooting and processing pictures occupy all of my spare time. At the same time i learn equipment and technique. I love to shoot people and everyday life although i am a bit afraid to get to close. So, i am in process of experimenting and searching for my own "style".

I am using Nikon D5000 and for a last month D700 (Nikon 14-24mm AFS f/2.8 G ED,Nikon 85mm f/1.4 AF-S G N ) I think i would like to try somthing longer like 200mm and maybe 50mm.

Looking forward to see your critique comments under my pictures (really, don try to be gentle, trash it if you feel i deserve ) That's the only way to learn.

Regards everybody and thank's again to Street Vision L.A.

Cheers.

Hi photographers!

Sorry for the delay in writing my introduction, as a admin I should do it before. I'm a guy from Barcelona (Spain) and shooting the streets since october 2009.

I like the streets because they are entities with its own energy and idiosyncrasy. The way you interact with that energy defines the degree of commitment and even honesty of your work.

I focus mainly in portraiture and candid interactions when possible and recently exploring the social documentary as a form of understanding some hidden parts of myself.

I have a Canon 500D, the kit lenses (18-55 mm and 55-250mm) and 50mm 1.4. Recently I ordered a 28 mm 2.8.

Definitely, the gear does not make the photographer, it is your limits what defines your style... so stay close and smile!! :)

Morning!

I'm Chris, and I'm a photoholic. I started shooting film on my mom's old 35mm Nikon, until grad school when I bought myself a Nikon D60 with what little money I had. It was a big deal for me as I'm not a photographer by education or profession, just a serious enthusiast.

When I first got my new camera I started taking stills, experimenting with freelensing, even trying my hand at HDR but none of that really felt super exciting to me. I then started paying attention to street photographers on the internet and seeing the sort of emotive pictures they were taking and I wanted to try it. So I got a 50mm lens and went out on the street.

When we moved down to Houston I started my own street photography project called Streets of Houston, which is mostly a platform for me to experiment at get better at this street photography thing. I hope to some day feel courageous doing this, but for right now it's mostly a rush.

I agree with ZedZap, with street shots i try to get as up close as possible and just wait for me moment. Shooting from the hip works well for me sometimes...But as i love to work with lines and composition you have to be brave at times and look through the lens.

I shoot with a ff body and a 50mm 1.8 or 35mm 1.4. Never used zoomlenses of any kind for my photography :)

Sometimes people block their faces or look away. I even had a man in Paris shouting at me.
