I've been lusting after that one, but it's pricey. 1000 lumens. I just bought the p14 (212 lumens) and so far I like it but I haven't tried it in any wide open spaces.

build own diffusor

Soerli posted a new topic:

Hello everybody, it's an honour to be your 999th member. I'm from switzerland and interested in pretty every facet of photography.

I already got my first question which is not particular about "light-painting".
I've got a Metz 58 flash for my Nikon D90 and I'm doing a lot of pictures with my fishlens (10,5mm). This brings the problem of the light-spreading.
I already tried to use different kind of cloth but the result never satisfied me.

Maybe someone knows how to build a diffusor (don't want to spend money on that). Thank you

Purely subjective Louis in my opinion.

I've always thought that if you are controlling what is lit and/or drawing with light then you are by definition a light painter... I would say you are judging by that set.

I consider myself a light painter and I employ both techniquies as can be seen below:

and...

"It is the art of moving light and mixture painting and photography."

If you say so Patrick. And I thought I tried light painting, hmm. Clearly you are right and I am not, light painting as seen in the many flickr groups all present it as images of moving light, caught on long exposures. The lightsource being not only the tool but very much the subject too.

My perception of it is somewhat different, I use light to litterally paint various surfaces with numerous short exposures instead. The result is entirely different from your images and perhaps not considered to be true light paintings ? Does anybody here use similar techniques, or do you know of other groups where this activity is performed ?

I haven´t been painting for quite some time, but you can see my oldies in this set ..
