Der steht für diese merkwürdige Form der Globalisierung und andererseits benutzen wir ihn, eben weil er mittlerweile auch so ein Synonym für Stuhl ist. Wenn ich den sehe, überlege ich nicht mehr, warum ist das der oder der Stuhl, sondern es ist ein Stuhl. Er hat den großen Vorteil, dass er billig ist und wenn er kaputt geht, ist man nicht traurig. Das ist auch ein Vorteil."

hello, streu (and Brian, if he happens by.). I knew there was a reason I took that picture and then went looking for this group!

Believe it or not, I personally witnessed the collapse, explosion, the veritable atomization of one of Those White Plastic Chairs. It went in a hundred pieces. Happened at my workplace a few years ago. The lady, and a good friend of mine at that, was - shall we say - of extremely 'generous' proportions. She was fat! It happened in a room with large glass windows and tile floors, so we got the full audio effect. Sounded like a shotgun blast. I dashed over, since she had hit the floor full force, but she wasn't hurt - got up, dusted herself off, seemingly with dignity intact! Moral to my long-winded story; anyone who tips the scales at 250 lb. or more would be wise to select a more industrial strength perch for their posterior. ; )
