My cat chews on her box all of the time. It's normal. Just make sure your cat doesn't eat big chunks of it, plastic, silk, anything. It can harm your cat's insides if they can't get it out.

My cat (the tabby one) used to gnaw boxes in the loft.. you'd hear her tearing it up then there would be bits of cardboard everywhere!

Now she likes tearing up toilet rolls!

My cat doesn't have an issue with cardboard ...My cat loves to chew on plastic bags.. it wakes me up in the middle of the night. sometimes that means she's hungry. but then again, there have been times her bowl is still full of food.. so i guess she just wants to chomp on plastic.

I once had a cat who would get over-excited when playing, jump into his cardboard box, chew lumps off and flick them from his mouth. We thought it was his way of calming down! The little bits of cardboard were all the same size & when the box sides were too low to chew we would get him another box.

Elliot, one of my six kitties, will shred and chew any cardboard box he comes across. He also enjoys shredding the paper off wrapped Christmas gifts. I can't put any gifts under the trees.

Our cat Sophie does this too. We keep the box she chews inside a larger box, so that the bits stay inside. I'm grateful that she doesn't chew on the outer box; the pre-chewed inner box seems irresistible for further munching...
