Is there a list of the daily topics? I ended up not having time to do most of these and then my email crashed and I lost the daily emails. So if someone would be so kind as to post the topics here, I would truly appreciate it. :)

And, wow, you photographed your own wedding. Serious talent, girl.

I checked your flickr stream to see what camera you have. It looks like you are using the xsi. The canon RC-6 is the wireless remote for the EOS line. I bought it for the rebet xti and then bought the 60D and it works on that too. I live mine. I photographed my own wedding using it.

I love the anticipation on getting my 9pm email with the next day's subject. Each day feels like Christmas while I wonder what the next day's assignment is going to be. Every night I rush to the computer right at nine to wait for the email and then I speed read through it to find out what is next. I have decided that I am going to use the photographs from each assignment to create a photobook for my husband and give it to him for our upcoming wedding anniversary. I originally did this project as a way to challenge myself creatively, which I did do, but I also ended up falling even more in love with my husband.

I have the Canon PowerShot SX130 (just recently got it) prior to it, I was using the Canon PowerShot A710.

Both are great cameras (hard on batteries if you use the flash a lot). Go somewhere where you can actually HOLD the cameras... the specs can be excellent on them but if you don't feel comfortable with the way it feels in your hands you won't shoot as much with it.

Also - I am a firm believer that while it matters to an extent how great the equipment is, it is more about the person behind the camera. Practice and ask questions (even the question you think is silly) :) Have fun and good luck with your decision!

mommyscamera posted a reply:

DSLRs are obviously the best (and most expensive) cameras out there. The quality far surpasses that of a basic P&S camera. You can also do so much more with a DSLR than you can with a P&S camera. DSLRs have changeable lenses that allow you to do different things. HOWEVER, if you are going to spend the money on a DSLR and only keep it auto mode, it's pointless. To get the full effects of DSLR cameras, you need to get out of auto.

Step-downs from DSLR cameras are high end P&S cameras most often called Super Zoom cameras. They are bulky like a DSLR but you don't have all the extra lenses to carry with it. This is what I have. I have a Canon SX20 IS. These cameras offer more than a basic P&S but less than a DSLR. Again, to get the most of this camera, get out of auto mode! These cameras, however, will run you $300-$400.

If you are looking for a good quality, more basic (but with still some great features), compact P&S camera I recommend the Canon SX 120/130. I have a couple of friends who use that camera and I'm always amazed at the quality of their photos!

Most important, do your research. Pick a camera that fits what YOU want to do with it. Go to the store and look at the cameras. What camera fits well in YOUR hands. Anyone can recommend a camera to you based on their own preference. YOU are the person that has to use it though!
