Whilst using the zoom button on my FT3 it switched itself off and now won't start again. I have 2 batteries both are fully charged so the fault isn't there.
I was using the camera above water at the time, any suggestions as to how to remedy the situation would be much appreciated.

I have this camera for only 1 1/2 week now but accidentally dropped it from approx. 1 meter high on a concrete floor during my vacation in Cancun due to greasy sunscreen hands. Noticed the rattling after dropping it, but I'm glad i found this topic.

Now all I'm left with are the nasty dents and scratches in my brand new cam :( stupid stupid stupid!

Hello everybody.

I wonder if anybody can give an email adress of Panasonic Japan, or at least the adress in Osaka, where I may be able to send a camera that one Panasonic branch in Europe refuses to repair or substitute.
So far, I suspect a manufacture malfunction, but Panasonic refuses to aknowledge. So, I need a contact in Japan.
Is there anybody that may help me?

Oh! Just googled this topic and thanks for the details! Will read the manual till the end. My camera has JUST started this light rattling sound when switched off or in play mode. No sounds when powered up or recording. Thanks for the discussion thread guys & gals.
Reasonably priced spare battery (UK) - FOUND!

Hi, just a quick public service announcement....

I have been looking for a spare battery (the FT-3 seems a bit hungry with GPS etc) and most retailers want about £40 for a genuine Panasonic one.

Just bought a genuine one from the department store John Lewis for £25. A load cheaper than anywhere else in the UK!!!

It is just to read through it once and it will disappear, but you get a small message after every time the batterydoor has been opened.

We just got our camera today and we just now noticed the rattle. We thought it might be the battery. Just found this group and the first post - now we know what it is - like StefanLichtl said - when on it doesn't rattle but does when it is off... Thanks for solving that mystery - I have only made it through the first half of the manual so far!

I noticed the same last week and assumed it was a fault... I sent it off and have just been told it's normal and here's the invoice :-(

Oh well, at least I read it's not a fault... !

Good to know I'm not about to be ripped off - thanks for the info.

On the plus side I'm looking forward to getting some windsurfing pictures. Just need to ensure I don't drop it like I did to the predecessor. (Cameras don't float too well).
