Each month, one photo is selected to be Nature Canada's Photo of the Month. The winning entry is featured in our eNewsletter and on our blog, as well as being made into a computer desktop image.

Entering the contest is easy - join our group, upload your photo and you're good to go! Remember to add a short description of your photo, including where it was taken and the name of the species of animal or plant in the photo, and tag it with "POM".

When you submit a photo, you are donating it to Nature Canada and granting us permission to use your photo on our website and in our eNewsletter, eCards, desktop images and other educational materials. We will not sell your photos, and we will make every effort to credit you whenever your photo is used.

I'm living in the interior of British Columbia where there are many wonderful species of birds. I've been birding for 5 or 6 years. There are a few that I would love to capture this year. I would love to capture a Cliff Swallow to finish off my swallow species, a Horned Lark, a Lazuli Bunting and a Great Grey Owl.

Happy Birding Everyone!

Well, for anyone near Kingsville, there is a rare Great grey owl..They are usually from Alaska, the Rockies, Alberta and northern Ontario, and it's the first time it's been recorded that down south, in Ontario.

It's the largest owl in North America, and is argued to be the largest owl in the world, but it is not certain.

Anyway, I'm pretty new to birding too.I'm hoping to see (and photograph) some woodpeckers, owls and more raptors. Not really any species in particular

I live in Michigan, but I've done a lot of birding in Newfoundland and New Brunswick. Getting out to Saskatchewan for some prairie birds in on my wish list, but I'm not sure if that will happen this year.

Three-toed woodpecker is one bird I may have to travel to Canada to get.

So, for any birdwatchers out there, what bird(s) are you hoping to add to your life list this year?

I'm a relative newcomer (3rd year) and there are still some fairly common birds I have not yet seen. So this year I would like to see:
Pileated woodpecker
Snow bunting
Western meadowlark (if I get a chance to travel to Alberta this year)
