Excessive Thievery by group member - with proofs

Hello Administrators and Group Members,

I was recently alerted to the fact that I awarded a STOLEN photo in the Roses for Everyone group. I am removing the award and notifying other group members to be aware and alert to the excessive thievery of .

You should look at her favorites as some of you in Le Farfalle group are among them, and you may find some of your photos illegally reproduced and misrepresented as hers. Interestingly, she is a member of 48 groups yet I rarely find a photo posted by her in these groups. Obviously she joins the groups to "mine" for quality photos which she steals and reposts as her own.

I usually will not respond to accusations without proofs, so I attempted to find some proof of the photo in question being stolen.

The language used in 's posting made me extra cautious. I think it is important to state the facts in a proper civil manner as others who may show support will be put off by cursing and abusive, aggressive statements.

Eventually my searching led to Webshots Community group and the Discussion Thread about 's thievery of several group members' photos over the years and recently.

I know from other groups. When I read of his problems in the Discussion Thread with this same person, and her pathetic excuse and insincere apology, I believed his accusation. The Discussion Thread contains serious allegations from several established photographers.

I went to your profile (wanting to know your first name to address you properly when writing) and immediately recognized your lead photostream photos as those CURRENTLY on 's flickr home page! In fact, on your DSC_1093_br photo, she obliterated your signature and now titles the photo "just passing through...""

Here is proof of INTENTIONAL outright thievery, no mistake in uploading or other ridiculous excuse by as she told . She digitally altered your copyrighted image that she stole via flickr and then posted the digitally altered stolen image on her flickr account, misrepresenting it as her property.

I recently was alerted to illegal use of one of my photos on Sound Cloud. I notified the person and Sound Cloud. SC immediately removed my image and the attached recording, and the person politely wrote me and apologized. Prior to making my claim, I made screen shots of the illegal photo posting on the site showing the web address, profile, etc as evidence of the use of my photo. Once the image is removed there is no proof, but with my screen shots I have preserved the evidence.

As photographers we should use VISUAL aids to substantiate these statements. After all, flickr is a visual community and we can more easily share a picture than write to individuals about thievery.

May I suggest that you and others do the same...make a screen shot of your image on the thief's flickr page, another one of her photo set containing stolen photos, etc. Save and label the screenshots and UPLOAD them to flickr. Label your set THIEVERY or STOLEN so others will notice it and share your photo in groups. Perhaps flickr management will become more aware of the problem and escalate removal of the predator. Maybe one of these screenshot captures will be awarded an Explore and really draw attention to the problem!

Use VISUAL tools to provide the proof of copyright infringement and excessive thievery by a flickr account holder. You may find this thief is using your photos commercially, and wish to pursue legal action which would benefit from the screenshot captures.

I will immediately remove my award from 's rose photo and put a link to your discussion thread in the Roses for Everyone Group to alert them of her consistent thievery.
