We are a small group but growing all the time we now have over 100 members, so thanks to everyone for joining and staying loyal to this group, keep posting your lovely tea room and coffee shops especially in old listed buildings,

I don't think that cafes and tea rooms are closing too much. The abundance of garden centres is helping to keep them alive, but I do recall reading a hot beverages sales analysis in the last 18 months that reckoned that people are drinking more tea in cafes than coffee - speciality teas in particular - as a treat in our recession-hit days.

Slightly off-topic, but still rather relevant - I admit that I'm in that category - I like to try new tea flavours in cafes. It's a shame that more cafes only sell 'bog standard' and 'unbranded to customers' teas, when so many are catering for more than Earl Grey drinkers! Liverpool Museums are a shining example in that category - and serve loose tea in attractive pots.

Mick - you're quite correct re prices of tea/coffee in cafes. Whilst the worldwide harvests haven't been good, cafes are frequently charging crazy prices for pots of our favourite brews! Some pub chains charge 99p for a mug, or, sadly a cup and one is lucky to be able to choose Earl Grey [I keep forgetting to ask for it in Wetherspoons branches if ever I go to them!]. At least McD's sell largish throwaway cups of a branded blend of tea, though! I don't know about ASDA

We now have 75 members, the group has been running about 13 months so that is an average of 5 new members joining each month at this rate we will soon overtake the old breweries group.
