This once was going to be a suggestion. After trying to view the gallery today it is a serious request. Please impose a 3 per day submission limit. Flickr has the admin tools to give you this ability.

Here is another thought: The Globe and mail has a page on which they show selected photographs selected from each of their pools. They use flickr as well as their own uploader.

They run weekly, not monthly, contests, so their two galleries are not excessively large. You might do weekly galleries, or be really selective.

Hello, Luis. Actually, I appreciate your commenting on sticking to the assignment; you're right. You also may want to consider a Flickr admin tool --- restricting the number of postings per day. Both the Globe and Mail and the Guardian (UK) do this. This forces us to be really selective, which, in turn, makes us look more carefully while shooting and then posting to the group.

About April Showers photo contest.

Hello all,

I have noticed that some of the images do not comply with the contest's subject, showers in April.

Fallen reddish maple leaves, no matter how drenched they are, do not follow the contest's subject. It was even selected as a Pick of the Day.

I have as well seen members of the group posting a few too many images, not topic related and seemingly all that was shot on that whole day.

I may sound too critical, perhaps for CBC News Your Voice Photo Contest, if we take into account my thoughts about the contest. I do it with the best intentions.

There's a lot of talent here to be wasted into other photo contests.

April 2012 photo contest: April showers

Tut tut, it looks like April - a month that is famously brings the wet weather.

In many parts of Canada, it's a month of rain boots and umbrellas, of jumping over puddles and ducking into bus shelters. (Unless you live in Vancouver - where it's just more of the same.)

Perhaps you love the rain, but it's also possible that you weather the storms by reminding yourself that April showers bring May flowers.

This month's theme is inspired by that very expression, so we're looking for your best photographs of the showers that you've seen.

Show us glossy streetscapes and morning dew, raindrops on windowsills or rainbows in the sky. Or prove you're quick enough to capture a flash of lightning or threatening shapes in a stormy sky.

However you wish to represent the theme, we encourage you to get out there and show us your skills!

We're excited to see what you've come up with.

We'll be posting your best shots each day in April. At the end of the month, we'll select five finalists and ask you to vote for your favourite.

The contest winner will receive a prize courtesy of the CBC Shop.
