Why do RAW photos take such a long time to load on my computer?
I had maybe 10 images and it took a good hour for me to just look through them, to see what I had shot.

Looking at the dpreview piece on the D600, the D600 has a smaller coverage (the AF indeed seems to come straight from the D7000). I know that I am frequently using the bottom centre AF spot, or spots far towards the sides, so that reduced coverage would be an issue for me.

The point is, it may be a problem for some people and should be taken into consideration.

(Looking at the place of discussion, I also started trying to avoid cropping just for trying the concept ;-))

Do you think the D3s, D4 and D800 are good cameras? If so, just remember that the D7000 still has wider AF coverage than those cameras. That's just how it is with FX. They don't have a dedicated FX only AF engine that goes beyond the DX lines.

I used to think this would bother me too but it really hasn't. A few times when I'm getting in really tight it bothers me but I've found over the years that I should't crop too tightly anyway given that the final picture may be viewd on a 16:9 screen, printed on a 5x7 paper, or any other non-native aspect ratio so leaving a little wiggle room is good.

One thing that somewhat kills the camera for me is the small AF coverage (it's a DX sensor pattern on an FX sensor). IMO you should really ask yourself if the sensors cover the areas you need for whatever you're shooting.

About the dust… I'm fairly certain I had the same issue (small hard to remove specks) after Nikon service replaced the mirror assembly on my D7000, so it might not only be that camera, but instead certain (series) of parts.

Houston Cougars posted a reply:

It's time to move past the dust issue. Nikon has admitted this CAN be an issue and will clean it if need be. I had mine cleaned twice (went to Nikon once and the other time just use canned air) and have no more issues.

As for the camera? Aside from not being able to change aperture in live-view mode, and a few minor things like slower sync speed (1/200), I honestly think this is Nikon's best camera as far as price and performance goes.

ISO 3200 sample:

It takes ISO 6400 pictures and doesn't even break a sweat:

Even at ISO 100, it's got dynamic range that lets you pull out shadows that other cameras can't. In this picture, with my old D90, the bottom portion of the picture would have been pretty much black given how much darker it is in comprison to the highlights:

The lighting here was absolute garbage..middle of the day, mix of clouds and sun...don't discount the high dynamic range:

ISO 100 at night on a tripod is just sharp sharp sharp. I especially like that it has a mirror-up mode to allow for virtually zero camera shake.

The point is you'll love the camera...even if you do have to blow off the dust off the sensor once or twice. I haven't heard much talk about it so Nikon has probably got rid of the initial batch.

I like the looks of this photo, I think it came out very good. The black and white works well. I think the subject has an emotion in this. I believe his emotion is based on will someone come listen and hear what he is playing, will he draw some kind of crowd from were he is looking over to. He seems stand offish, but in the same sense wants people to come near him but would be uncomfortable with it. Very well done.
