Alright. I just messed up the editing on your FlickrCampPlanners page. :(

I signed up to help out where I can, even though I'm not sure if I can make it depending on how long it is and on what date(s). Is that okay?

BTW, I swear I used 8 spaces. I'm just retarded I guess. :)

yeah i think so
- like minded individuals.
- tutorials, talks, games, walks, etc are led by members of the camp
- everybody has an opportunity to present (another variation says must present, but we can figure out what we who attend want to do with our camp.)
- a weekend with an overnight is presumed, but i went to a one day
camp (online community camp) with a modified structure and it was fabulous too, as a fallback.
- it has to be affordable. it's not a conference, it's not art college, it's more like a brain-pleasing creativity-stretching vacation... camp!

the chicken and egg to get beyond is getting a space, sponsors and a date, when each is easier to get when you have the others already lined up. anybody have experience with that?

this is the very earliest "get the idea out there and see if people want to work on it" stage. i expect we can figure it out by collaboratively inventing it. i think there can be regional differences once more than one comes together, so experimenting is part of the point.

So, here's what I got from reading the links. These camps/unconferences are get-togethers of like minded individuals. Every individual attending must present a tutorial, demonstration, class or seminar of some kind, but the syllabus is usually determined on the first day of the camp? Is that the gist of it?

How long are these usually? I didn't see any proposed dates. Maybe I missed it somewhere?

a wiki is a lot like an online whiteboard, so it is particularly good for planning and brainstorming.

however, since we are talking about this as emerging from flickr users, we may as well use a flickr group to talk in the format we all know.

so if there are things there you want to comment on, just do it there; or start a discussion about it over here instead. it all works.

I think I sent mark a note a week or so ago, not entirely understanding what the whole Camp thing *is*, or could be...? it ostensiibly seems like a cool idea, but I'm vague as to the substance behind the idea -- any links or further definition of what y'all want/expect/hope it will be?
