I agree that comments can be a double edged sword. Its lovely to see people commenting but frustrating to get few or no comments at all. I get depressed when i post an admittedly not great image of a wild Golden eagle and get little response but people are fawning over images of Red Kites at feeding stations. Shooting fish in a barrel?

I agree with old novice. I am new to photography and would appreciate comments, criticism and advice from experienced photographers. A lot of the photos in this group are fantastic for technique, subject matter and composition. comments can only be an encouragement to improve.

You can always leave out the logo html while copying the code. I personally like groups which have logos because it helps to create an identity and you can see where people found your photo.

I believe that comments are very important - not only informative, but, very encouraging. Being new to digital SLR's I don't think that I have the right to comment yet, but a comment from someone who knows what they are talking about is a great boost to people like me! I must admit, I do look for any comments on my photos and do get dissapointed when there are none. Please put yourself out a little and encourage us novices.

I still find that when comments are positive and encouraging it makes me want to keep trying other ideas. If I didn't receive comments then maybe I would feel quite different about photography.

I've given up trying to comment on photo's. The pictures that people include with their comments take too long to load. This makes commenting on more than a couple of photos too agonising!

Why no option to forgo the pictures included with comments

There are still dead wasps appearing on our patio and I have no idea where they are coming from. Most mysterious and, although I'm no lover of wasps, I don't like to think that there is trouble for another species.

That's funny you should mention it because we've had a wasps nest in our garden this year and it was abandoned very early. They built it in a bird box and we could see it gradually growing during the early summer. Then one day at least a month ago we found it looking very tatty with no activity around it. Like you, I was surprised because I thought the nests weren't abandoned until sometime in the autumn.

Eagle 142 posted a new topic:

Earlier on this year I discovered at least three wasps nests in our roof - one at the back, two at the front. Not unusual as we have had them many times in the past. I try to ignore them and let them get on with life. I know that they may well become a nuisance in the Autumn when they start to become bad tempered and then may have to be "dealt" with. A few got into the house but they seemed to be quite small. The one at the back was on an overhang near the kitchen door and I was beginning to think about getting that one removed soon.
However, over the last few days I have realised that all activity has ended - first at the back one and now at the front ones. I had noticed a few dead wasps on the ground which I thought unusual but did not think more of it. I don't think I have ever noticed this so soon in the year and wondered if anyone else has experienced anything similar. Could they all have moved on or is there a "bug" around?
