Hey,

This is just an attitude issue (no offence please). The problem I think is that everyone has access to Editing tools these days.

In the older days with Film Photography, people would send the films to Labs to Process and Touch-up, and that was considered ok, cuz its something done in the Labs.

Photoshop and Lightroom do what these Labs would do to the captured image. Thats all.

550D is a great choice as your first DSLR :)

New Rebel T2i Blog!

Hey Everyone,

www.rebelt2i.wordpress.com

I think this is the right place for this - I have started up a blog solely devoted to shooting HD video with the Canon 550D. After finding a little information here and there on the internet, I decided that I was going to bring all of the info I have found, not to mention some of the lessons I have learnt already and help share the wealth!

I am by no means an expert, and am definitely looking for people who want to contribute information, tips, guides and tutorials!

Stop by and take a look, and don't forget to PM me if you want to contribute!

www.rebelt2i.wordpress.com

Thanks everyone!

Remember that using photoshop/lightroom etc. will not improve the optical quality of the pictures taken, however things like color correction/curve correction are a pretty standard thing to do in the industry.

Some of my best pictures were taken and presented without ANY editing or changing, and if you take a look at Mrey2010's photos you will see the great images that can come without editing, but for a lot of my photography for clients I want the pictures to look the BEST possible.

Also you can change a lot of settings on the camera, and if you have the time to correctly white balance and expose every single picture then by all means go ahead and do it on your camera. However when I am working with a group of kids, who won't sit still for more than 5 minutes I almost have to leave all of the fine tuning for later on my computer.

Made in New Zealand posted a new topic:

I'm thinking of buying one of these cameras but I'm disappointed to see that most people touch up their photos in a photoworkshop. Shouldn't the photo image quality be good enough without having to add extras? This will be my first DSLR and I don't want to have to muck around with the image to make it look better. I think the photo quality should be good enough the way it is. Or the camera should do an automatic correction. I am interested in what you have to say on this topic. Thanks in advance for your answer!
