I saw an article in the week before last's Review on the Weekend Australian about Tracey Moffatt, her protrait Tracey with Mirror (1995 - held at this gallery) and modern Australian photography.

It highlighted this exhibition which is being held at the Tweed River Art Gallery (Murwillumbah) and there is a free floor talk by the curator on the Moffatt portrait and other works in the exhibition on 6 April at 11am.

I am planning to go and wondered if any other northern NSW/SEQ Bubblers would like to join me? I do plan to put this on RedBubble and AusPhotography forum and in a couple of my other Flickr groups too.

In addition to the art - which unfortunately we cannot photograph! - the Gallery has a lovely cafe (lunch anyone?) and gardens with some unusual native specimens I have not seen elsewhere.

So please poke your lens up if you are interested. If anyone wants to make a day of it we could do sunrise along the Tweed River somewhere, and possibly visit Uki afterwards (alternate lunch venue) and get some nice reflection shots under the bridge there.

Anywhere down the South coast is worth the trip. Down near me there are about 6 beaches in a row all with nice saltwater pools which make for some spectacular sunrise shoots.

Here's one that I found recently.

Went on a trip to Huskisson, which is about 90 mins south of Wollongong. Stayed in a simple motel and across the road about 2 mins walk was a simple little sheltered bay. Went down there at about 5:30am to get the below sunrise shot. Weather was really cold and colours were slighlty muted.

If you're heading down there for the day then there is a carpark near the Husky pub or just up from it that is free and hardly used.

The next photo was from Chinaman's beach. A simple 60 minute mild bushwalk from Huskisson. All beaches on the track have beautiful white sand and crstal clear water.

NSW South Coast.......spectacular!

Acclaimed since the 1930s as the 'largest baths of their kind in the State', Merewether Baths are '110 yards by 90 yards' and are 'big enough to hold the larger swimming events'. It once hosted a range of novelties such as a water wheel. This pool is a popular subject for photographers and other artists.
