The Culture Vulture are giddy kippers about our romantic liaison with Morley Literature Festival this year. We've teamed up with them to host an evening event (15th October 7.30pm) during the festival celebrating all things love and passion. We'd love for you to join us on what promises to be an affectionate evening dedicated to the art of romantic fiction.

We've also a little competition for all you artistically inclined out there! We're looking for your interpretation of Cover Art for our Mills & Boon celebration event. There's even a prize of £100 for the winner.

Add your romantic clincher to our Flickr Group, and we'll ask our friends ont' interweb and an esteemed panel of judges* to decide which 10 make it to our event, and of those 10, one winner of £100.

Brief: Create an affectionate image which could grace the cover of any romantic fiction novel. We don't mind how geographically located you make it and we're not fussy about how chaste or saucy...

Technical specification: If your artwork is original then please create it A1 size, if digital 300 dpi or higher so it can be enlarged to A1

Closing date for submissions 29th September. So get that mood enhancing music on, chocolates and candles at the ready and soft focus!

Can you enter a photograph that tells us something about your relationship with nature?

Our current exhibition On Overgrown Paths by Ben Rivers shows three 16mm films projected inside ramshackle wooden cabins.The films depict modern day hermits who embrace the wilderness and have a strong bond with nature.

In response to this, Impressions Gallery would like you to get creative and photograph what the wilderness is to you. How do you connect with nature? We would encourage you to explore this idea broadly and to be playful in your approach.

This could be through photographing the beauty of the countryside, or your back garden, a shed, a park, a secret corner somewhere, or simply the sky at night. Show us where you go to escape the pressures of the modern world.

Will you impress the judges - Andy Wade, Multi-Media Manager at Orange UK and Sarah Read, Deputy Director of Impressions Gallery - and win a prize?

No Culture Icons is an online photography collective, showcasing the best in new up and coming photographers from around the world.

I started this as i was always inspired by the photographers on Fjord and such, and wanted to create my own with some of my favourite photographers.

Can you create a photographic self-portrait that tells us something about who you are?

Our current exhibition Front shows the work of photographic artist Trish Morrissey, who poses as different people to investigate the links between photography and performance, identity and memory.

In response to this, Impressions Gallery would like you to create a photographic self-portrait that explores your identity.

This image could be looking at your choices of clothing and body language, the type of environments and places you live in or how your relationships with other people effect who you are.

We would encourage you to think of the idea of a self-portrait very loosely and be experimental in your approach. So whether it’s a snapshot of your favourite shoes, or you in a place that’s special to you, get thinking about what makes you, who you are.

Will you impress the judges - Andy Wade, Multi-Media Manager at Orange UK and Anne McNeill, Curator of Front and Director of Impressions Gallery - and win a prize?

How to take part

Competition opens Friday 24 July 2009.

Competition closes midday Friday 21 August 2009.

You can enter just one photograph or up to three different photographs.

If you want to take part and upload images you'll have to join as a member of flickr. This is easy to do and full instructions can be found by clicking here.

This is an open flickr group so anyone can see the pictures that have been uploaded. Your photographs will also be available to view on Impressions website. To visit the flickr group go to www.flickr.com/groups/whoareyou/.

Don’t forget to pop in on Saturday 29 August when we’ll be announcing the winners of the competition at our Beach Party. To celebrate the two years Impressions Gallery has been in Bradford we are bringing The Beach to you! We are creating a giant sand pit in the Studio and have heaps of exciting creative activities for adults and children, plus seaside themed refreshments so come down to play in the sand and see if you've won a prize.

*Shortlist
Ten photographic self portraits that stand out will be highlighted on the flickr group site and on Impressions website.

**Runner up award
Three photographs that really impress the judges will be highlighted on the flickr group site and on Impressions website as well as winning an Impressions Goodie Bag.

*** Overall Who Are You winner
One photograph from all entries will be selected by the judges as the overall competition winner. This image will be highlighted on the flickr group site and on Impressions website as well as winning an Impressions Goodie Bag plus dinner for two at Tulsi restaurant in Centenary Square, Bradford.

Awards and prizes will be announced on Saturday 29 August 2009 at our Beach Party.

Terms and Conditions

All entries must be received by midday on Friday 21 August 2009.

**We're being good group administrators and at flickr's suggestion moderating all picture submissions before including them. Don't worry though we'll be moderating a few times a day until the competition closes on 21 August 2009**

no not at all.

At first i started it as a music project but that would be far too difficult, and i think it's much more interesting with the possibility of being able to photograph any person. Any age, gender, etc etc!
