May's photo contest - now open

Greetings, shutterbugs! It's time for a brand new photo contest -- this month, we're encouraging you to explore the theme "Spring forward."

After a long winter, we are all looking forward to spring, and are hoping to see some of your terrific snapshots of all of the fresh, vibrant sights that are sprouting up around you after the winter thaw. We encourage you to be as playful and creative with this month's "Spring forward" theme as you would like -- it could refer to anything from the green shoots and flowers you've seen sprouting up in your gardens, to all of the forms of renewal and fresh starts that seem to take place at this time of year.

We encourage you to send in as many photos as you would like, and we'll be featuring some of your best entries daily throughout the month.

Send in your photos by May 26. We'll reveal our contest finalists on May 31, so be sure to check back and vote for your favourite entry.

The winner will receive a prize courtesy of the CBC Shop.

April's photo contest - now open

Attention shutterbugs! It's time to start submitting your best snapshots to our April photo contest, which is devoted to the theme of "Engagement" or "grass roots."

The theme was initially inspired by thoughts of the upcoming federal election, but we encourage you to be as playful with this month's theme as you would like. "Engagement" could mean anything from political engagement to a social gathering, or even the kind that ends with a ring on someone's finger.

Send in your photos by April 22. We'll reveal our contest finalists on April 23, so be sure to check back and vote for your favourite entry.

The winner will receive a prize courtesy of the CBC Shop.

March's photo contest - now open

It’s hard to believe it, but March is already upon us. Though Wiarton Willie has forecasted an early spring, Environment Canada says otherwise, and it’s prompting many to wonder if March will truly go “in like a lion and out like a lamb.”

Here at CBCCommunity, we’re taking the optimistic view, and looking ahead to times when the snow has melted, the temperatures are rising and crocuses are starting to sprout up everywhere.

We’re encouraging you to do the same, and our March photo contest is all about new beginnings. Send us any of your snapshots that are inspired by that theme, and we hope you’ll be as creative as you’d like – new beginnings can mean anything from spring weather to a fresh outlook to brand new ventures in your life.

We’ll be featuring some of your best entries daily. Towards the end of the month, you’ll have a chance to vote for your favourite “new beginnings” shot. Send in your photos by March 25.

We've launched October's photo contest and the theme is harvest time. Whether it's picking fresh apples from your favourite orchard, showing us pumpkins from a fall fair farming contest, or providing a glimpse into the wheat harvest on the Prairies, we want you to show us your area's best produce and the people who grow it.

You have until Oct. 25 at 9 a.m. ET to submit. We look forward to receiving your entries!

We've also made some changes to our photo contest rules based on your feedback. Please have a look over them before submitting your photos.

One of the greatest pleasures on a warm summer day is being able to enjoy some food and drink outdoors with friends and family. For August's photo contest, we want you to show us your appetizing alfresco summer meals.

Whether it's cold-cut sandwiches and lemonade at a beach picnic or grilled salmon and your grandma's potato salad at a backyard barbecue, send us your photos and tell us what's on the menu. But don't worry - you won't have to give away grandma's secret recipe.
