Yarn Bombing DIY
*********************

In conjunction with UK:DIY (www.ukdiycraft.com) ArtYarn are curating an online portfolio of Yarn Bombing photographs from around the world.
Upload your Yarn Bombing images to our flickr pool and exhibit your knitted and crocheted bombs here..

Here’s how to take part:

Step 1 – Choose your favourite location and a piece of street furniture in your chosen area (e.g a lamp post, bench, statue or bicycle stand)

Step 2 – Measure your chosen city feature and get knitting or crocheting a colourful piece of knitting to fit !

Step 3 – Take your knitted or crocheted ‘bomb’ back to your chosen location and sew the bomb in place. See the archives for inspiration)

Step 4 – Photograph your yarn bomb and upload to the ArtYarn UKDIY Flickr Pool.
(If you haven’t already signed up to Flickr you must register in order to post to the pool)
Don’t forget to state where the image has been taken from i.e the street name and town or city of your location.

The ArtYarn team will be selecting their favorite yarn bombs to appear in print at the UK:DIY exhibition at the Turnpike Gallery, Leigh UK, so the brighter and wackier the better!

UK DIY
*******
Call it alternative, subversive, political; call it sustainable, ethical, entrepreneurial.
A new generation is re-claiming and re-defining craft and doing it their way with
finger-wagging, tongue-in-cheek. In public, in private, in the street, in the pub,
individually and in groups. This is DIY craft in the UK.

UK DIY explores the resurgence of interest in crafts and how traditional crafts,
such as knitting and crocheting, have been given a contemporary twist. Featuring
work that crosses over with fashion, science, technology and music culture, the exhibition
will include specially commissioned pieces and work by innovative regional and national
makers, real and online communities, and knitting groups from across the region.

This exhibition will be part of the regional UK DIY series of events, exhibitions and
participatory projects. For more information see www.ukdiycraft.com

some of my tags have lasted as long as 6 months (and counting) :) it does really depend on a lot of things, such as location and if the neighborhood and surrounding area is uncomfortable with it.

Yes, depends on the type of yarn, and where it's placed. In a shade some can last up to 3 years. Sun can fade the yarn or felt in no time, but we extend it with a uv/waterproofing spray .
