In the past decade Williamstown has received a face lift and become a major tourism drawcard. It retains the coherence and charm of a maritime village, due, in no small part, to the many historic buildings. A proliferation of cafes and restaurants are a major feature of Nelson Place which runs adjacent the foreshore while boats, yachts and dinghies decorate the shoreline and ships sail through the estuary en route to the Port of Melbourne.

Taken in the small Lansdown cemetery that surrounds Beckford's Tower (see earlier picture of the spiral staircase) in Bath. One of the more prominent graves there is that of William Beckford who had the tower built and who regularly visted and climbed the tower until he was in his 80s. This is another of the graves found within the grounds which shone out with its white stone surrounds

Bermondsey Underground Station, London, England

When I first took this image when I was at Bermondsey Underground station I was not sure what I was going to do with it as I took it just waiting for a train however I am so glad that took it! There is such a wide range of shadows and light in this image it was a pleasure to edit. Bermondsey Underground station is certainly a cavernous world and one thing I have learnt doing my research on this station is that it was built in 1999, that makes it 14 years old however the place still feels modern, I suppose you could say its 'Timeless'. Most of the Jubilee Line extension stations are a joy to photograph, I think most photographers would agree with this statement. I think the reason why is they contrast so much to the rest of the Underground system.

Information
Bermondsey tube station is a London Underground station. It is situated in the eastern part of Bermondsey in the London Borough of Southwark, and so also serves the western part of Rotherhithe.

The station itself was designed by Ian Ritchie Architects and was originally intended to have a multi-storey office building sitting on top. London Underground have yet to realise this second phase of the scheme.

It is on the Jubilee Line, having been built as part of the Jubilee Line Extension between London Bridge and Canada Water stations. It is notable for its extensive use of natural light. The main station entrance is situated on the south side of Jamaica Road. The station is in Travelcard Zone 2.

The station was opened on 17 September 1999.

Like its extension counterparts, Bermondsey station was designed with a futuristic style in mind by Ian Ritchie Architects. Extensively using natural light, it is built in both a cut-and-cover and tube design. The cut-and-cover section is supported by latticed concrete beams allowing light to penetrate to the platform level. The escalators down to this area are lined by flat concrete with a high ceiling to give a feeling of spaciousness. The bored section is encased with metal to keep in line the futuristic and metallic theme of the extension. As with all other deep level stations on the Jubilee Line Extension, Bermondsey station has platform edge doors for passenger safety and comfort.

This is the church ruin of St. Olof, located in Sigtuna and originally built in the 1100s. Of course it was not a ruin back then but a proper church; it slowly degenerated during the seventeenth century.

What did I do today? Probably just work, and veg out after I got home (near midnight), exhausted.

A study in lights & blinds & this terribly-lit room with a window that faces south, yet gets little light as most of it is blocked by the balcony of the upper floor. This building is designed badly. I'll be glad to leave.

This is straight out of camera (although its two sisters, not shown here, I decided to tweak a bit), if you can believe it (which you hopefully can). Actually, a day or so before, (and even, again, a day or so after) there was a prism of light, rainbow light, on the ceiling through the blinds. I didn't catch it quickly enough, as I was probably too tired, still half-asleep/sleeping, or otherwise rushing to work.
