Contemplation

This particular spot is one of my favorite places to just sit for a while and contemplate life. Trail 4, Potato Creek State Park, there is a bench a couple hundred yards in from the trail head (now don't go stealing my seat!); I often sit there for a bit, take a photo or two, and quietly sit and think about whatever needs contemplating. The view of Lake Worster, the trees, the sounds of nature, and the usually beautiful sunset all combine for a serene few moments of respite from the hurried pace of life.

Una volta regnavano i Re e i cittadini venivano chiamati sudditi, perchè dovevano sottostare al volere del Re, qualunque esso fosse.
Una volta non regnava libertà, giustizia e democrazia ma sovranità, totalitarismo e paura.
Una volta si assistette ad uno dei periodi più bui della storia umana: il medioevo.
Una volta si arrivò poi alle dittature senza mezzi termini, allo sterminio razziale tra popoli.
Mentre Re e Reginette si spartivano e lucravano sulle guerre tra poveri.
Una volta l'Italia era governata da Re e da Ducetti despota...Una volta...

Ora invece?
Ora vige la libertà, la democrazia e la giustizia.
Non ci sono più Re, classi privilegiate, che hanno il potere decisionale su tutto e tutti, che fanno il bello e il cattivo tempo..Non ci sono più conflitti di interesse e nodi di potere così grandi da controllare stampa e media.....

Vero?
Già ora è tutto diverso!

Ora siamo liberi di fare finta di essere liberi.

This is the first page in my 2013 journal. It's not the sort of journal that I write in everyday-it's more like a mini scrapbook. I jot down random thoughts; paste in ticket stubs & quotes that I like; document important events; add pictures; talk about the weather; & embellish it anyway I want. If this is not something that you do...I suggest you start. Not only do I have fun putting it together, I find it very relaxing to work on it. : )
