Not what the weather forecast had predicted for this sunrise at Shingle Street.... apparently the sun should have risen just out of frame to the right without the mass of grey stuff in the way!
It's taken a few days of looking at this photo's raw file to finally find the appreciation for it and to think how to carry out an edit, quite glad I stuck with it..... finding those reflections quite captivating now :)

I got up at 3:55 this morning to make the drive to Sausalito to be here for blue hour. Not a cloud to be found anywhere, so I went with a silhouette study using the Hoya 9-stop ND. This is a single exposure, shot as 6 vertical frames and assembled as a pano with Photoshop.

I was the only one out here this morning and got to enjoy utter serenity on the tiny beach.

Lens is the DA*55/1.4

An unusual edit for me of a 10min exposure using a 10 stop and 6 stop ND filter screwed onto the lens. Have noticed some issues with noise on my longer exposures which needs looking into, but I like the minimalistic effect of this.

Another shot of the posts on Derwent Water in the Lake District, this was taken half an hour after my last upload from the same spot just as the sun was rising giving some fantastic light on Lord's Island.
Taken on my nikon d7000, sigma 17-70 lens, hitech06 nd soft grad, hitech 06 nd hard grad, lee polariser, tripod mounted and cable release.
