Standing on the front at Plymouth, looking out to sea you are presented with a beautiful art deco lido, faithfully restored and still in use (well during the summer months). It was originally opened in 1935 but unfortunately close in 1992 due to declining numbers using it and general neglect. Luckily a local campaign was started to open the lido again and after a £3.4 million renovation and being listed as a Grade II building in 1998 it reopened to the public in 2005.

Plymouth, The Barbican Prawn

It's a bit of a weird thing to have at the top of a pole in the middle of the harbor, but whatever it is, it's known as the Barbican Prawn. Technically calling it a prawn is wrong as it seems to have been made up from the parts of many sea creatures.

Plymouth, Memories of a Diving Board

Originally built in the 1930s, Plymouth had a purpose built, multi level set of diving board for diving into the sea. Unfortunately they fell into disrepair and in 2003 were deemed unsafe so were fenced up. This of course didn't stop determined people who still wanted to dive off the boards but in 2009 a boy was badly injured falling from a board. After this the council decided it was best on safety grounds to have the boards removed and in 2010 they were dismantled.
