After another busy old day painting - I'm getting there - I did manage to get out for a drive and some fresh air! This shot was taken just outside the small village where my son and daughter have their homes. It was a cold evening with a strong northerly wind blowing a real chill. However, the scene was a warming one - looking across the rural fields with Arran sitting on the horizon below those great clouds.

This was me breaking free from painting, sorry to the countryside!

Never Anger A Posse Of Cats

I went to bed as usual last night and upon turning off the lights, I yelled good night to the the cats. Good night Fat Butt, Good night Dork, Good Night (politically incorrect name) I hollered and slipped into bed.

When I awoke this morning, I found myself handcuffed to the bed and three cats snickering from underneath. I struggled for hours to break free. Finally, I lured the small one in close enough to catch by yelling TREATS!. I tickled her tummy till the keys fell out of her pockets and unlocked myself. I made a mad dash out the door yelling behind me, Good Bye Fat Butt, Good Bye Dork, Good Bye (politically incorrect name) and ran into the desert until I came across a fence that said Keep Out. With the posse of angry cats hot on my trail, I had to make a choice. Keep Out or Go In.

Eh, I just played dead. The Goof Balls came by sniffed me and left. What a bunch of Maroons.

I'm still trying to regain my equilibrium after getting home from a big conference. I took pictures every day, but I didn't upload them to the computer, so I'm trying to sort out what day goes with what pictures.

Bunny made an interesting discovery in the back yard. It seems that somebody has taken up residence in a mushroom. It looks like a tiny work of art nestled amongst the lavender there. I love the bright green surrounding it.

I took this photo last night at a wedding reception. I'm still sorting out those photos, but when I downloaded my pictures, this was the one I immediately scrolled to. I was SO pleased with how this image of three angels on the side table turned out. I used a narrow aperture (f/11) with a flash bounced off the ceiling with a diffuser to light only the objects in the foreground of the photo. The background was a well lit living room, but with the exposure metered for the close flash, it all disappeared into blackness, as if these angels were actually singing in a dark sky.

Dear Marissa Mayer, CEO of Yahoo, could you please explain what WTF means to my 7 year old cats? Everytime I click a link on your new site that used to be Flickr, I exclaim loudy, WTF? And of course like any 7 year old who hear a word a thousand times, they are repeating constantly what their Daddy said. So, I would personally like to thank you for turning my cats into Potty Mouths.

You did not make over the site, you completely changed it.
You have 80 million(?) people with Flickr mail that could have gotten an email asking them what they would like to see changed and how. You didn't ask one. They are your customers, they wont steer you wrong.
Flickr apparently is run by Computer Geeks who have no idea what Photographer Geeks want.

Size matters..

I absolutely adore whales, its unhealthy! But I tend to forget how big they actually are, they're massive! They have the bones of the whales at the Natural History Museum and it really gave you a sense of scale on this beautiful creatures!

Our Daily Challenge: Unusual

It's unusual for me to wonder why I'm doing this 365 project and want to give up. But that's the way I felt last night. I spent the day working outside and so maybe I was just tired or maybe the news out of Oklahoma on top of losing our school superintendent so unexpectedly drained all the energy from me. Probably a combination of being physically and emotionally wiped out. At any rate, I hit a low, but I knew I'd regret stopping now after nearly 5 months of a photo a day. So just before calling it a night and going to bed, I picked up my phone and took this photo of what was left of my late night snack. I have to admit, it's a bit unusual in and of itself.

I hope those are scratches on my glass table top and not cobwebs in my lamp. LOL!

It was the time for dealing with itches...

It was warm and quite windy on Monday, and the North Lake fountain at Chicago Botanic Garden was producing some nice rainbow colors. I think it's unusual for the effect to be this pronounced.
