A FABULOUS WEEKEND CELEBRATING AND COMMEMORATING THE 1940s

The village of Haworth in the heart of West Yorkshire's Bronte Country is famous (amongst other things) for hosting a very special 1940s weekend.

The event usually involves locals and visitors alike getting togged up in 1940s gear to enjoy a wide range of nostalgic events, which often include a RAF vintage plane flypast, a morale boosting visit from "Sir Winston Churchill" - as well as spivs peddling their wares and authentic swing jive and Lindy Hop dancing being performed both in the streets during the day and at specially arranged dances which are held at local dance halls and pubs in the evenings.

Haworth village is situated at the edge of the Pennine moors in West Yorkshire, England, the area made famous by the Bronte sisters, known as Bronte country. Haworth is first mentioned as a settlement in 1209. The name may refer to a hedged enclosure or hawthorn enclosure. The name was recorded as Howorth on a 1771 map.

Maryland State Police Helicopter “Trooper 1” landing at the Community Family Fun Day at Downs Park on Saturday.

These helicopters are an awesome site to see. It is amazing how they can basically land anywhere. Can’t wait to see the new helicopters when they are placed in service.

At his leisure in the captain's cabin. One of the many excellent life size figures at Eyemouth Maritime Centre.
Eyemouth Maritime Centre is a fantastic museum stuffed full of exhibits relating to historic smuggling in the UK. There is also a reconstruction of parts of the interior of an 18th century ship, including a gun deck and various cabins.

This photo indicates the contempt some people have for the laws of the road. Whenever you climb behind the wheel of a vehicle there are terms and conditions you have accepted. You must obey the laws, you have a duty of care for yourself and others.

Here the driver of Leicester based DSK Haulage continues to use his mobile phone in full view of Police Officers dealing with a broken down VW Polo on the roundabout.

I find this behavior strange for someone who makes his living driving.

This is the truck that was involved in the accident with "Bumblebee" during the filming of The Transformers. The truck was repaired and now sports a "No Bumblebee" sticker on the sides!

From what I understand, the MPDC Officer was responding to a real 911 priority call and didn't realize he was driving through the scene of the film. The driver of Bumblebee obviously did not see or hear him coming!
