While the attention of the gardening world is on Chelsea the RHS gardens at Wisley have a stunning display of rhododendrons and azaleas. Here the fallen blooms from a camellia create a gorgeous carpet of colour, with azaleas, bergenias, acer and bluebells adding to the colour.

Something was off in the photo I took and I couldn't quite place it. Perhaps the color so I tried desaturating them...not quite what I wanted though. Then I realized it was the focus of the photo: the people. I cropped much of the outside area around the four, bringing a much tighter view on the group enjoying Pinot Noir that afternoon.

The winery had just closed for the day due to an upcoming party, so I had a short chance to wander around taking photos. I found this view with the backdrop of trees and color. I loved the way the dark colors of the wine press were such a contrast to the colors behind it which I kept slightly out of focus for an artistic feel.

Pinot Noir (Black & White)

Here I wanted to focus on the Evenstad Reserve Pinot Noir, leaving the wine glass in foreground slightly blurred. I decided on a Black & White later in PP since I felt it brought a simplicity to the image. It also added a focus on the label with the white background.

The Feel of a Mediterranean Villa

It was the tiles and colors as I walked down the stairs to this area in front of the tasting room. While I so wanted to enjoy their wonderful Pinot Noir, I stopped to take in this view. With the rain, the colors were off for a daylight view. I used a CEP Bleach Bypass filter to get something different than the drab look from the rain.

Here I wanted to captured a sideward view across this building front at the Domaine Serene Winery. Even though a rainy day, I was able to bring a look and feel for a brighter day with colors and tonality. I later decided to add a slightly diffused look using an Ink CEP filter.

Here I wanted to capture a shot across the wing with that acting to frame the view of clouds below. I loved the rich colors the lettering on the wing had with the sun coming up. It seemed to contrast just right with the blue skies.

A Sea of Clouds

What struck me here...or rather what I wanted to capture was the clouds and how they appeared as a sea of water with only a mountain tops coming above them to see the blue skies above. While slightly out of focus due to the windows, I was able to use some contrast work with Color Control points in Capture NX2 and then some USM afterwards.

A photo I took once we cleared the morning clouds, leaving the Austin Airport. The sun had just cleared the horizon and an announcement had come on, allowing for electronic devices use. I immediately grabbed my D800 and took this using my LCD display and AF-ON button since I couldn't quite turn around in my seat for this. I decided to include the window edges as I felt it added to the view with the portal feel.

The soldiers, all members of D Company, 1st Battalion The Royal Welsh, have deployed on an exchange program with The Indian Army to develop counter insurgency skills and survival skills in a very testing climate alongside The 17th Kumaon Regiment, who have travelled to Belgaum for the exercise.

Troops from Wales and the north west of England will conduct shared training sessions at Belgaum Training Centre â home of the Maratha Light Infantry and the Indian Commando Training Centre.

I took this picture at my room. This is a natural shot with no editing done to it. I tried again to take the picture from the bottom and use the perspective technique to make it seem stretched out. I decided to take this picture because these types of glasses are always thrown away after the movie and not given much thought. For my brother though these glasses are a wondrous thing that he does call his X-Ray glasses. I believe when you are a kid you can see the beauty and wonder in things without trying too hard.
