Guo Wei

I first met Guo Wei when touring China as a hired gun drummer with a pop group. Guo Wei is friends with the singer and brain of mentioned group and upon arrival in Beijing I was told that I was going to sleep in his apartment during our week in the Chinese capital. His apartment was located out in the eastern suburbs of this mammoth of a city. Meanwhile our bassplayer got to stay at a hotel in central Beijing.

Man, was I bummed. Here I was, jetlagged like hell and stuck far away from the city centre.

It took about five seconds for me to understand that this was probably the best thing ever to happen. Guo Wei turned out to be a smart, funny and overall excelent guide and living together with a Chinese dude gave me a unique insight in modern day China (I´d been there before but hanging out with Guo Wei was a completely different experience). I got sick and this dude took me to the hospital. I was hungry and this dude took me to out for the best Beijing Duck dinner ever. I was thirsty so this dude escorted me to a secluded beer garden out in the suburbs.

It was one of the best trips of my life.

So, imagine how excited I was when he managed to hop over to Europe a couple of years later, making a pit stop in Sweden for our traditional midsummer celebrations! Here he is seen enjoying a can of traditional Swedish working class beer hopefully having a good time.

And Guo Wei, if you ever read this - thanks for being awesome. You rule.

The Geo-Tag isn't exactly right. The celebration was at a nearby church that I cannot find on the map, but was close to Keggebo.
