According to legend, a Mi'kmaq brave paddled his canoe into Indian Cave and emerged near Cape Blomidon on the other side of the province. A veil of water drips over the mouth of the cave. The Ovens, Sept. 22, 2012.

Davey Lewis Cave at Bedford Springs Resort

Cave entrance people think could have been used by the legendary Davy Lewis, the Robin Hood of Central Pennsylvania. He was a bandit who used the cave as a hiding place in the early 1800's. He entered through an opening four feet wide under a ledge of rock on Constitution Hill, the ridge east of the Bedford Springs Hotel and was never seen to emerge, suggesting he used a secret passage under the valley to exit on Federal Hill, west of the hotel.

One traditional story recounts Lewis’ overnight stay at a poor widow’s house. Her only cow and few household effects had been impounded by a constable for a debt she could not pay. In the morning, Lewis gave her the money she needed. When the constable arrived shortly after, the widow paid the claim with words of praise for the man who made it possible. Within a mile of the widow’s home, Lewis lay in wait for the officer. He took back the money at gunpoint and returned it to the widow.

Minolta MD 28-70mm f/3.5-4.8. Taken with a Minolta XG-M. Kodak C-41 B/W 400 film, probably expired.

My dad gave me his old manual Minolta, and I had a lot of fun running around Indian Cave State Park in Nebraska shooting with it. More shots to come.

More an open air recession, the "Indian Cave" was connected to the sea through an underground passage of some sort, so that the water here is actually the sea water. I believe we were there at more or less low tide, as the entire back half of the "cave" was damp (as can be seen here).

another chronicle picture... story though:
there was a segment of haunted places in kane county. there was a list of like 5 places that i had to go by my self, near dusk. I was freaked out as it was. Then I had descriptions of why the places were haunted. This one was by far the creepiest. Settlers and Indian got along. Then one man decided he wanted to revolt against the Indians. So he went to hide out in this cave. And later on settlers and Indian began disappearing... they found them in the cave, scalped and murdered.
I have never been so scared by my self.
