Another sunset in one of my favorite places in Faro, this next Sunday I can get the sunset with a high tide, lets hope for an amazing sky that day :D

After yesterdays disastrous attempt at sunrise it was another 4am alarm call today. This time, it was 2nd time lucky! This old cable reel on the beach at Newlyn made for an interesting subject. A close look shows the dew formed on the metal plate. Shot at 5:28 when other than myself and the fisherman in the busy harbour the rest of the world was asleep. Certainly how it felt anyway!

My son Benjamin, my daughter Emily, and my granddaughter Kendall on campus for Ben's graduation; Ben and Kendall are giving the sign of the Wolfpack while Emily gives the sign of the East Carolina Pirates where she graduated.
On Saturday, May 11th, my son Benjamin (Ben) Averitt graduated with Honors from the North Carolina State University Agronomy Department with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Plant and Soil Sciences - Crop Science, and a second degree in Plant Biology. He is now going to work on his Master's Degree. Words cannot express how proud I am of Ben; most fathers hope their sons will grow up to be like them, I hope I can grow to be as good a man as my son.

Can't believe I haven't uploaded to Flickr in 6 days! Been on holiday but have been stuck in my chores of decorating the lounge. New carpet tomorrow then the rest of the holiday is mine! The weather has been pretty poor so far but hoping the camera is going to get some use somewhere.

Dragged myself out of bed this morning hoping for a sunrise. MET office forecast was 'partly cloudy with 20% chance of rain.' As soon as I got to my location I had a downpour which carried on for a couple of hours. I didn't hang around, didn't even get out of the car. Wish I'd stayed in my warm bed now!

There is always tomorrow morning though... Who knows what that may bring?

In the meantime a dig into the archives for a sunset shot from Porthtowan. Really like this one for the softness of the pastel colours and soft sand.

From todays morning at the harbour of Kreuzlingen.
At 5.00 I stood up to drive to the Seealpsee so photograph and hike a bit. At 5.45 am I got angry about my self not to stand up a bit earlier. I didn't expect a nice sunrise, since the weather forecast predicted a clouded sky. But there was a break in the clouds over the Austrian Alps and therefore the sky was one fire. The harbour of Kreuzlingen was the closest photo location to capture the sunrise but unfortunately until I reached this location this intense red was almost gone. But despite of the missing red I quite like the mood here.

Went out looking for a sunset but found very little. Decided to go and do some long exposure stuff - although to be fair - conditions not really ideal for that either!! Havent posted much recently - sorry about that. Hoping to get out more over the next few months... thats the plan anyway...
