An egg case or egg capsule, colloquially known as a mermaid's purse or devil's purse, is a casing that surrounds the fertilized eggs of some sharks, skates, and chimaeras. They are among the common objects which are washed up by the sea. They are made of collagen protein strands. Because they are lightweight, they are often found at the strandline, the farthest point of the high tide. The egg cases that wash up on beaches are usually empty, the young fish having already hatched out.
The size of egg cases vary; those of the small-spotted catshark or lesser spotted dogfish, Scyliorhinus canicula, are around 5 centimetres (2 in) long, while those of the greater spotted dogfish, S. stellaris, are around 10 centimetres (4 in). That excludes the four long tendrils found in each corner, which assist in anchorage. Egg cases from rays vary in that they have points rather than tendrils. The colours and shapes of egg cases also vary greatly from species to species.

An unexpected shot and I am thrilled!!!

I was observing the place daily ever since I saw a bird flying out of the hole at the base of a mini water purification unit . Few days back I saw two chicks crying in the nest but at that I was not having my camera with me.

I was trying to take a shot of the chicks and while focusing I saw only a chick but was stunned to see mother bird in the shot feeding her chick. By the time I clicked the mother bird has come from nowhere fed her baby and flown away like a flash of a light.

STUNNED TO SEE THAT FLICKR HAS CHANGED ITS LAY OUT AND EVERYTHING THIS MORNING ALL TOGETHER. I AM UNABLE TO DIGEST. USUALLY I LIKE CHANGES IN WEBSITES AND MAIL SERVICES BUT THIS CHANGE IN FLICKR I DID NOT LIKE AT ALL.

Osaka, a Japanese restaurant where the chef makes all the food right at your table. I snapped a pic just as the chef caught an egg he had thrown in the air. The next throw he turned the spatula sideways and cracked the egg as it fell. The egg started frying to be added to the fried rice and the egg shell, only partially spilt, remained on the spatula. What a fun night and awesome show this chef put on for us!

After discovering the new Chego! in Chinatown last week, I knew it wouldn't be long before I would be back. So it's no surprise I returned today, driving instead of taking the Metro.

I ordered Tiny's Prime Rib Rice Plate which, along with the beef and rice, includes crunchy water spinach and Chinese broccoli, a very nice creamed horseradish, some roasted garlic paste, and shallots. Everything is topped with a fried egg, this time done perfectly so the yolk would drip down and mix with the rice and veggies. That shoyu, or whatever it is, on the rice is absolutely fantastic. The meat was cooked right, though I wish the two big pieces were cut into four or six smaller pieces. While not quite as fantastic as last week's pork belly, this is still real good. Prime rib plate, about $11.

I found this robin's egg in my grandma's yard today. I always get so excited when I find things like this. I'm still a kid at heart, I guess! : )
