Went out cycling with Alex and Olly - she is a sponsored mountain-bike rider, and he is a regular road racer. I am neither. Nor am I fit. Or not fit enough to keep up with the two of them anyway! 60 VERY hilly miles in the Peak district nearly killed me.

Day 117/365

I always find worn out buildings interesting. I like the textures and the old paint and bricks. This is the front stairs of an apartment building on Maitland. When I was taking this shot, a man walked up and asked me why I was taking a picture. I told him that I found the textures interesting. He then sat down on the stairs, so I assume he lived there.

Saw Laurence Juber at the St. Lawrence Acoustic Stage in Morrisburg. Laurence Juber is an English-born guitarist who lives in California. Often considered most famous for playing lead guitar for Paul McCartney and Wings from 1979 to 1981, he has since had a distinguished career as a solo fingerstyle guitarist. Great front row seats and one of the best performances I've seen in a long time.

April 27th. How to combine natural light and idiom? So when I remembered this idiom, I thought I'd be sneaking around my garden taking pictures under bushes. Then I looked up bushel which got me very confused because it means a measurement or something you measure a bushel with. However, now I've discovered that this idiom actually derives from the New Testament books with bushel meaning bowl. In some readings this saying refers to a candle and bowl but I wanted to use the sunshine (yes! Sunshine! It's cold though so not stretching to summer like).

The original idea was to try and get a reflection of the water under the bowl ( yes, it may be sunny but did in fact tonk down all last night), but I ended up obsessing with trying to get water drops on the rim of the bowl.

This is a bit messy but was my favourite shot, capturing the light and the water and the bushel (and the blue sky in reflection).

...A boiler that works.

Nothing inspiring tonight as we're packing for going away tomorrow, but we discovered - just as I went to wash up - that the boiler wasn't working. So our plan of leaving as early as poss in the morning has now turned into hoping that the gas man will turn up as early as poss and not at five minutes to one.

Bloody sods law. That's what it is.

Went to Bristol on Saturday for spot of shopping, and went down to the waterfront for a bit. I have never done a triptych before, but decided that these 3 shots of this very colourful skateboarder could work. What's the verdict?

This is the Böhme in Soltau. A photo of water was planned for today, so I was prepared and took my grey filter with me. So I could make a long time exposure to get smooth water!

Today was not great. I should have ran a half marathon this morning.

Instead, I spent the day with a broken foot, re-writing a paper and re-doing a presentation.
The final kicker came this afternoon when the marathon organizers emailed out race times.
Mine was obviously "Did Not Start"

While I can't change the fact that I now officially have a DNS, this adorable little sundress at Target definitely made me feel better...

Langara Design Formation Grad Show

Earlier this year, I met someone who's in the Design Formation program at Langara and they had recently made me aware of their upcoming grad show. I had some free time, so I went to check it out and get a few pictures. Overall, the exhibition was really good and the few displays that I took the time to look over were impressive :)

The Shift Exhibition was open for a few days and it's unfortunate that I finished this so late :/
