On the dancefloor in Oceana in Swansea. Out for Lucy's hen do; the others had all been canyoning during the day, but lack of funds meant I just drove down and met them afterwards, and joined them on a night out. There was a fancy dress theme of "under the sea". I went as a manta ray. :)

While in Cusco we visited the Saqsaywaman Temple high above the beautiful city of Cusco, which is considered the center of the Inca world and the cultural capital of Peru. The advanced construction techniques of the Incans are very impressive. The temples and buildings that were not torn down or built over by the Spaniards during the colonial years are still sturdy and a testament to the Incan traditions.

The ceiling is lovely (I didn't make it!) and worth a larger view!

So, I was out in the fields and it took me a long, long time to set up my shot. I was fiddling with the tripod trying to get things exactly level, and thinking about how to stitch two shots together on top of each other, a vertorama. Anyway, I was looking at the camera and thought I could no longer feel the breeze on my face or hear the birds singing.

Well. It seems I took so long setting up, when I was ready for my landscape shot someone had only gone and built a cathedral around me. It says on wikipedia that Carlisle Cathedral was begun in 1123, but we all know how inaccurate that can be.

Luckily, on the way to the location I had paid two lovely old ladies a pound for a sticker that said I could take photographs. I thought I'd take this precaution just in case there were any overzealous monastic church builders around. When it turned out there were some church erectors about, I was pleased with my investment.

But still, I found myself confronted with a lady in a grey cloak who asked me if I had permission to use my tripod. Well, I'd paid my pound as insurance against future church-raising, so I said that I had. But no, apparently I had to have written permission. Otherwise it was a health and safety issue. Someone might trip over my tripod.

Now, I remained perfectly calm throughout. And I don't think arguing in such a place is particularly clever but this did irritate just a little. For one, I am 6'2", and if I am crouching down with my tripod I am hard to miss. And two, if I DID have written permission, how would that piece of paper have caused people to NOT trip. 'Whoooah! I nearly tripped over this large man and tripod and would have done too if it wasn't for the folded up piece of paper in his jacket pocket that alerted me to the danger'.

So I took my tripod and took my shots. But I rushed a bit and this could maybe have been better. I'd have liked to stack more shots to get my stitch and get even more clarity of focus. But, I was in a hurry in case the lady with the cloak from Harry Potter came back with reinforcements so this is the best I could do.

It feels like Union Station has been under renovation forever. The subway station looks awful and this is the mess outside on Front Street. I wish I had gotten the bottom of the construction equipment, but I wanted to get the top of the CN Tower in the background.

This is me and two of my best friends on our girls weekend. We are getting ready to go out on Saturday night to a local pub that is within walking distance. The ironic thing is that we didn't even have a drink at the pub, as we were all burnt out from all of the drinking we did the night before! We had an amazing day at Le Nordik Spa. The Swedish massages were awesome and very relaxing, and the hot tubs, pools, and saunas felt wonderful. The only thing that was difficult was that you were supposed to remain silent in most of the spa. Needless to say we kinda had a hard time with that and were shushed a few times! All in all it was a wonderful time spend with amazing friends and I can't wait to do it again!

One of my best girlfriends got tickets to see Oprah live for her birthday and asked me to go along. Although it's not something I would have necessarily sought out on my own, I ended up really enjoying learning more about her story and some of the things she has learned in her career. Even as a tiny dot on stage that woman is A PRESENCE. Wow.

But then, unbeknownst to me, George Stroumboulopoulos appeared (for my non-Canadian Flickr peeps he's a bit of a Canadian celebrity and television personality). He is also part of her Canadian tour and does a sit-down interview with her after her formal talk.

In a word: SWOON.

Had I known I was going to be in the same air mass as my husband-to-be I definitely would have put on more make-up. Oh well. Next time Strombo. Next time.

Busy day it was, Saturday. A few hours on the bike in the sun, rain, wind, then sun again, opening day for Thing 1's baseball (in the sun! +1), and capped off with dinner with the Mrs. down at Las Margaritas in Kits 'cause we missed date night this week since her parents were in Palm Springs.

Here we are, turning left off 4th heading for dessert, with me grabbing my POD of a killer sunset with my phone while hanging out the passenger window. Chelsea was driving 'cause I had two Red Truck Ales with my steak fajitas (Chelsea had crab enchiladas, we shared). I consider it a "calorie reload" after the ride…

Messed about with Snapseed and decided on an angular tilt-shift just for s'es and g's.

Taken with Nikon D70 and Nikon AF-2 DX Micro Nikkor 40mm. 4/2.8G lens, Both images: f/4.0, 1/60 Sec., ISO 200, External flash, bounced off ceiling.
Pepper selected and copied into own layer. Fill layer put between pepper layer and entire photo. Linear Light blend mode lets some forms in background layer show through.
