Milner Royd Junction signal box, located half a mile east of Sowerby Bridge station, where the Halifax branch joins the Calder Valley Main Line. This is the sole surviving example of a Smith & Yardley box built for the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway. The design was used between 1878 and 1882. Since 1903, Milner Royd Junction has contained a 20-lever Railway Signal Company frame.

Hebden Bridge signal box on the Calder Valley line. This Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway-designed cabin was erected in 1891 and originally featured a 36-lever frame.

Final shot from Todmorden, an hour after sun rise, back in the valley and the sun starts to burn off the low cloud revealing Stoodley Pike standing high on the hill over the Calder valley.

The final frost of the morning visible on the grass.

The pike is a monument to the Crimean War, built in 1856.

66709 "Sorrento" passes Dover Bridge, Eastwood with 6M09 03:35 Tyne Dock to Ironbridge Biomass. 19/2/13. Never having photted at this location so early in the morning or so early in the year, I wasn't sure whether the sun would be fully over the hill. It wasn't! Still, these trains have to be done no matter what, as it's planned that they won't run for long via this route.

Hebden Bridge, lively cultural hub of the Calder Valley. It may be dry and sunny in this view of the main square, but the town has been hit badly by flooding in recent years.
