Prototype of a USB serial interface for the Model 15 Teletype, using a boost converter to step up the 5V USB voltage to the (approximately) 100 V DC @ 60 mA necessary to drive the coil on the seventy year old device. More info: 45baud.net/Model_15

The 71 seemed to have a few pairs going round the route on Saturday.

Here, hybrid Volvo B5LH/Wright Gemini 2 7008 (KX13 AVO) blocks 7010 (KX13 AVR) onto the stand while it finishes loading at Chequers bus station.

Both are on 71s but are going to different places, there's a bit of a 53 thing going on on this route - some journeys go further than others.

Using the SPI bus to generate NTSC video with nearly 400 horizontal lines. The hardware outputs pixels with an 125 ns (8 MHz) dot clock. Source code coming soon.

I will have to think about debouncing a bit, but in general it works quite nicely. In this picture it controls the lights used to illuminate it. The lights understand serial, so the knob only has to send '+' or '-' to adjust brightness.

It also works very nicely as a volume knob for amarok, kmix ... only requires linux, KDE4 ;-)

The ATtiny85 is hidden on the other side ;-)

As usual you can have all design files and code. Search for "Serial-Knob" and take a look inside the "ATtiny_projects" repo for code: [1],[2].

After seeing the rare daylight AVR train under the former IC brewery, I had the double fortune of catching this one pass in Panther Hollow later in the day. Then, a few minutes later, I passed a third one heading in the same direction. The AVR can pass through some great locations for photos but is a challenge to predict.

I was lucky to catch this AVR train during the daylight, as they seem to typically operate after dark. This was right under the former Iron City brewery, where the train then switched onto the Norfolk Southern mainline.
