Almodovar’s Castle is a military fortress originally build by the Arabs in 740 taken an advantage of an ancient building of primitive period. Playing an important part in the defense of Córdoba for its strategic location dad is situated on a hill about alongside the Guadalquivir Rivir at that time navegable by small Rivir boats.

After the reconquest by Ferdinand III “The Saint” the Castle was subjected to severals expasions by the Spanish Kings specificly by D. Peter I of Castille and Henry II from Trastámara. Afterwards in 1629 the Castle was sold by King Philip IV to Fransisco Corral y Guzmán and since then the Castle belongs to the same family.

In the present, the Castle keeps his magnificents state thanks to a big restauration carrried out by D.
[taken at Medina Azahara museum, Córdoba, Spain]

Medina Azahara, meaning "brilliant town" is the ruins of a vast, fortified Arab Muslim medieval palace-city built by Abd-ar-Rahman III al-Nasir, (912–961) Ummayad Caliph of Córdoba, and located on the western outskirts of Córdoba, Spain.

It was an Arab Muslim medieval town and the de-facto capital of al-Andalus, or Muslim Spain, as the heart of the administration and government was within its walls. Built beginning in 936-940, the city included ceremonial reception halls, mosques, administrative and government offices, gardens, a mint, workshops, barracks, residences, and baths. Water was supplied through aqueducts.

The main reason for its construction was politico-ideological: the dignity of the Caliph required the establishment of a new city, a symbol of his power, imitating other Eastern Caliphates. Above all, it demonstrated his superiority over his great rivals, the Fatimids of Ifriqiya in Northern Africa. Legend also says it was built as a tribute to the favourite of the Caliph: Azahara.[from Wikipedia]
El Caminito del Rey, Málaga

monchoparis posted a photo:

El Caminito del Rey (English: The King's little pathway) is a walkway, now fallen into disrepair, pinned along the steep walls of a narrow gorge in El Chorro, near Álora in the province of Málaga, Spain.

In 1901 it became apparent that workers at the hydroelectric power plants at Chorro Falls and Gaitanejo Falls needed a walkway to cross between the falls, to provide for transport of materials, and for the inspection and maintenance of the channel. Construction of the walkway took four years and it was finished in 1905.

In 1921 King Alfonso XIII crossed the walkway for the inauguration of the dam Conde del Guadalhorce and it became known by its present name.

The walkway is one metre in width, and rises over 100 metres above the river below. Constructed of concrete resting on steel rails supported by stanchions at around 45 degrees into the rock face, it is currently in a highly deteriorated state and there are numerous sections where part or all of the concrete top has collapsed. The result is large open air gaps that are bridged only by narrow steel beams or other support fixtures. Very few of the original handrails exist but a safety-wire runs the length of the path. Several people have lost their lives on the walkway in recent years and after two fatal accidents in 1999 and 2000, the local government closed both entrances [from Wikipedia]
Panorámica de La Alhambra, Granada

I know, I know, it is very deformed, but it looks fun :-)

Alhambra (Arabic: الْحَمْرَاء‎, trans. al-Ḥamrāʼ; literally "the red one", feminine; in colloquial Arabic: el-Ḥamra ), the complete form of which was Calat Alhambra, is a palace and fortress complex located in Granada, Andalusia, Spain. It was constructed during the mid 14th century by the Amazigh ruler Badess Ben Habuss of the Emirate of Granada in al-Andalus, occupying the top of the hill of the Assabica on the southeastern border of the city of Granada.

The Alhambra's Moorish palaces were built for the last Muslim Emirs in Spain and its court, of the Nasrid dynasty. After the Reconquista (reconquest) by the Reyes Católicos ("Catholic Monarchs") in 1492, some portions were used by the Christian rulers. [from Wikipedia]
