This picture is actually a remake of an older shot of mine earlier uploaded on flickr under the name La guardia
"La guardia" in fact was nothing at all HDR. Nevertheless the intends to post process the original as an HDR with CS2 it didn't work. So I decided to process it my way: Duplicated the original several times the Orton way but without the blurring. Mounted them in one psd file with different layers blending them by changing the fusion and opacity of it. This way I had 3 layers, background included to which I added finally 2 more layers. 1 with the antenna only and the last one nothing but the clouds.

A few months ago when I discovered Photomatix I already knew one day I would remake the "La guardia" picture and so proceeded yesterday. The results really were poor. Tried several different blendings but the final tone mapped results intending to equal the lighting of "La guardia" were each time of low quality. Lots of noise and worse in the lighting effect I was looking for.

Finally I came out with a new blend using CS3 which became the image "cobertura". This one consists of a blend from "La guardia" and the best result of my HDR intents yesterday from the original picture. To the final result of this blending I applied an almost full noise reduction and some brushing with the saturation brush on the first plan. The original is a single shot which has been taken hand-held (no tripod) under poor light circumstances during a hike:
focal length: 6 mm
aperture: F/2,8 (max. of light entering)
exposure: 1/50 sec (the longest exposure as possible hand hold, breathing restrained with shake reduction on)
ISO: 200 (higher ISO values with this camera generate noise full images)

All pictures have been taken on a grey September Wednesday afternoon.
Due to the poor light circumstances during the shoot I post processed them with Photomatix (tonemapping) after having created 3 different images in Photoshop just changing exposure values, starting from the original.

Short after take off on a plane trip from Brussels to Sevilla, the pilot corrected route thus offering a marvellous view on the Atomium. I seized the opportunity to shoot a few pictures. In the foreground we've the Brussels Trade Mart, the Eeuwfeestlaan, diagonal from the right under at the Heizel Expohalls to the left above and halfway the Atomium still in restoration. On the rightside the Bruparck and Kinepolis, and on the leftside the Parc 'd Ossegem and Park van Laken.
