A Martial Eagle (Polemaetus bellicosus) sitting on its huge nest in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park (Kalahari, Northern Cape, South Africa).

Note: This is Africa's largest Eagle, with a length of 76–96 cm (30–38 in), weight of 3.1–6.2 kg (6.8–14 lb), and a wingspan of 188–260 cm (6.17–8.5 ft).

An African or Spotted Eagle Owl (Bubo africanus) seen on a night drive in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park (Kalahari, Northern Cape, South Africa).

Note: The Owl is actually facing the other way, and turning its neck 180° to keep an eye on us.

It was the hottest time of the day in the Kgalagadi, and Cheetahs stopped for a rest.

The tree in the background is a huge old Camel Thorn Tree (Acacia erioloba).

Cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus) facts:
Top Speed: 120 km/h (75 mph).
Acceleration: 0 to 103 km/h (64 mph) in 3 seconds (faster than most Super Cars).
