Lady Moraine

Ar'alani posted a photo:

Everyone who knows me with some amount of familiarity knows just how much I love Banff. And Louise and Moraine, my two beautiful lakes. I suppose it's a deep-seated infatuation that has become a vocal part of my personality. There is just something that has snagged me to the point where all I want to do is be and explore and breathe and walk all things Banff. I want to learn the park, learn its hideouts, it's beautiful corners, its unturned stones, and become part of it myself. I feel I barely know it, and yet, it is such a part of my physical consciousness that I know we will spend more time together. Banff seems to understand my adventurer's spirit, and takes good care of it.

Lake Moraine is shocking. I always visit here before almost anywhere else in the park, partially because I want to make sure my mind is ready to be completely blown by the size of the Valley of the Ten Peaks. You drive up a windy road, and suddenly become dwarfed by these beautiful mountains. Despite the altitude and the embarrassing huffypuffy sea-level-dwelling-monkey mess I become, I run from the car and pelt up the hill to the viewpoint to say hello. She's like a long-lost friend, and I never know what mood she'll be showing me that day.

This particular night, it was supposed to rain and be awful. Never trust the weatherman. ;-)

From the same night, no ND filter.

Yoho National Park. Quiet, picturesque, full of all the things that make the Canadian Rockies spectacular. Where you long to be when you're having a bad day, or just want a long walk that might involve a waterfall, a river, some amazing mountains, a river, and some mind-blowing landscapes.

I love you, Yoho Valley. We'll meet again soon.
