Nunca vejo o sol nascendo aqui, mas pelo menos de vez em quando dá para ver a lua se mostrando.

Never manage to see the sunrise here, but at least I sometimes catch the Moon doing the same thing.

Julho passado, em pleno Centro do Rio de Janeiro (veja no mapa), com a lente 50mm a mais aberta possível para captar a luz.

Last July, right in the middle of downtown Rio (see map), with the 50mm wide open at f/1.8.

A reformada Ponte da Saudade na Praia José Bonifácio: lugar para namorar, pescar, ou atracar sua lancha (mas cuidado com as pedras!) Infelizmente não conseguiram reformar a pedra ao lado, que continua coberta de pichações.

A última da série de noturnas de Paquetá, por enquanto.

The refurbished "Ponte da Saudade" (something like "Bridge of Longing" or "Bridge of Fond Memories") in José Bonifácio Beach in Paquetá. A popular place to fish, canoodle or tie up your speedboat (or all three). Unfortunately they weren't able to refurbish the rock beside it, which remains covered in graffiti.

The last of this series of night shots of Paquetá, for the time being.

Às vezes estamos no lugar certo na hora certa.

Quinta-feira da semana retrasada, do Aterro do Flamengo em torno das 21h. Uma nuvem alta passava na hora da foto, e causou a nebulosidade em torno da lua.

Exposição de 4 segundos, com tripé.

Sometimes you just happen to be in the right place at the right time.

This was taken from Flamengo Park a week last Thursday, around about 9pm. The haziness around the moon was caused by a high cloud that was passing in front of it at the time.

4 second exposure, with a tripod.

Deve haver milhares de fotos no Flickr da lua cheia ontem à noite. Esta é minha contribuição. Agradecimentos a Zé Lobato por ter chamado minha atenção à lua nascendo e a minha ajudante Celina, que segurou a persiana e impediu que os gatos pulassem da janela!

Acho que o monumento verde é o Monumento a Nossa Senhora Auxiliadora no Morro de Atalaia, Santa Rosa.

There must be thousands of photos on Flickr of last night's full moon. This is my contribution. Thanks to Zé Lobato for telling me the moon was rising and to my helper, Celina, who held open the blinds and stopped the cats jumping out of the window.

I think the green monument is the "Monumento a Nossa Senhora Auxiliadora" (Monument to Our Lady the Helper) in the Santa Rosa neighbourhood of Niterói.

À noite no Aterro do Flamengo. Dizem que a Guarda Municipal não passa por lá depois das 19h por medo. Só se eles têm medo de gatos! Este gato (gata?) de rua é vizinho desse . Ambos esperando, com a maior paciência, a chegada da mulher que distribui o jantar.

A moonlit Flamengo Park. Apparently the local guards don't stick around after 7pm because it's too scary. Only if you're scared of cats! This stray is a neighbour of this guy, both waiting patiently for the woman who delivers their dinner to arrive.

Ao lado do Aterro do Flamengo, em que sobrou das fundações do ancoradouro da fábrica do emissário submarino de Ipanema, formam-se piscinas naturais na maré baixa. Confesso que gosto de como esta saiu.

Beside Flamengo Park, the foundations of the anchorage of the old factory where the pipelines for the underwater sewage pipeline of Ipanema form small natural pools at low tide. I admit I like how this one turned out.

Hoje à noite no Aterro do Flamengo com a lua quase cheia. Um pouquinho de sorte - não sei como ele ficou parado durante os 2 segundos da exposição. Acho que estava prestando atenção nos cachorros que por alí rondavam.

Tonight in Flamengo Park with an almost full moon. A bit of luck - I don't know how he stayed still for the 2 second exposure. I think he was too busy watching out for the dogs that were roaming nearby.

A chegada do barco holandês ABN-AMRO 1 à Marina da Glória hoje de madrugada, acompanhada por uma lua bonita. Como aconteceu nas 3 etapas anteriores, o veleiro chegou em primeiro lugar. O objeto vermelho à direita da foto é o guindaste que será usado para içar os barcos da água. Para outro ponto de vista da chegada do barco, veja as fotos em torno desta foto por jpinho.

The arrival of the Dutch boat ABN-AMRO1 at Glória Marina early this morning was accompanied by a beautiful moon. As was the case in the other legs of the regatta, the sailboat took first place. The large red object at the left is the crane which will be used to hoist the boats from the water. For another view of the boat's arrival see the photos aroundthis one by jpinho.

Não, nao é a lua cheia de ontem. Esta é de dia 16 de outubro do ano passado, recuperada do HD do antigo (pifado) laptop. Não é a primeira vez que tento isso - na vez anterior deixei a superexposta. O título da foto é de um livro comovente de Rohinton Mistry - se você não leu ainda, recomendo.

No, this isn't yesterday's full moon. This was taken on the 16th of October last year and was recovered from the old (broken) laptop's hard drive. It's not the first time I've tried this but on the previous attempt the Moon was overexposed. The title of the photo is a moving book by Rohinton Mistry. If you haven't read it yet, I can heartily recommend it.
