The new Vespa dealership has replaced the old, weathered florist's sign with their shiny new one. I stopped in for the first time today. Wow! These are not your father's Vespas!

There were a few humorous signs around the ponds at Cline Cellars. I liked this one. I edited out a few blobs of bird cookie for gentle souls who get upset by that stuff.

We had fun at this winery and bought a fabulous bottle of dessert wine and some sea salted dark chocolate to accompany it. We opened the bottle with Rick and Andi on Sunday night in Palo Alto and enjoyed it entirely. Shot this with my FinePix JX400. I've been using the JX400 at the 8 megapixel setting.

The building in the background is at the Jacuzzi Winery, just across the highway from Cline. Shot this with my FinePix JX400. I've been using the JX400 at the 8 megapixel setting. That's half its max setting at 16 mp.

A new business, Vespa Marietta, is set to open on Lower Roswell Road, very close to where it ends at Hwy. 120. They are in the location formerly used by Fraser Florist. Shot this through a large angled window. If you look very carefully you can see my fingers wrapped around my RX100.

[CameraBag2 nighttime filter]

I finally decided to post the best of a couple shots of the entire building. In order to make it interesting, however, I took the already iPhoto '11 modified version and plopped it down on CameraBag2. I used one of the Nighttime filters and then used various tools to get it where I wanted it to be. Remember, this was shot at midday with full sun shining on it. Digital photography is a gas!

We followed these eleven bikes for over ten miles yesterday as we approached Centre, AL on a visit to Donna's mom's place on Weiss Lake. We all bumped up against a very large farm vehicle and followed it right into downtown Centre. This shot shows that farm vehicle making the left to take the business route into downtown Centre. I think it's a seed and fertilizer spreader. It was BIG.

In the heart of Rome's Historic Downtown District is a block of buildings. This is the identifying "sign" if you will. My photos of the entire building weren't great, but this one shows an authentic section of the structure. Shot with my Sony RX100. No post shot treatment whatsoever.

I shot this from the parking lot of the Burlington Coat Factory on Hwy. 120 (Roswell Road). That's I-75 in the foreground. It's at the RX100's Clear Zoom level. That's twice the optical zoom. Right after taking this single shot I ran out of battery power! Took too many flash shots and forgot to recharge! This image was improved in iPhoto '11 and then given the Ventura filter in Aviary! It's a tight crop.

Red-Tailed Hawk / March 2, 2013

Donna and I were driving along this morning and I spotted this Hawk on top of a small Christian Science Church. I took several photos, this last one from not too far away. The subject had flown from his (her?) viewpoint onto some fairly low wires. It's still both optical and digital zoom. I didn't have time to adjust for the strongly backlit subject, so I used iPhoto '11 and et a fair photo for flickr. This is a fairly tight crop. The original crop is about 8.3 megapixels out of a 20 megapixel photo.

This is a great little kitchen store. It's on a corner on the main drag through Rome, GA. The Honeymoon Bakery and Harvest Moon Cafe are just a few doors down from this shop.

I watched this one being built and it intrigued me from the start. A terrible place to stop and take a photo from the car. At long last I pulled up a small street just opposite and shot this from the sidewalk.

Finally! I figured how to do something with Hispstamatic for my iPad. This is me, waiting at the local Wal Mart while Donna dropped in for an item or two. Actually, I don't like the idea of having to buy filters. I just added CameraBag2 to my iPad... tons of filters, all came with the app for just $1.99!
